How on Earth do they manage that?! I have seen on most of my tins the BBE is printed on the ends of the tin and not on the label. Maybe they aren't out of date and insted just not selling well or from end of lines when a store is trying to get rid of things to fit in different stock.
I was doing work at a nearby unit at the time, was offered a huge tin of tuna, bloated, was told OK for the cat.
It must be legal some way because no attempt to hide the operation. Maybe ex flooded or fire stock, someone just making a shilling refurbing them.Maybe goes abroad.
Just thought, would the USA way of dating make it sellable. Like 8.11.11 to 11.8.110 -

There are websites that sell out of date stuff, so it must be legal.
The american loophole would not surprise me at all, legal or not... I remember several years ago there was a shop near me selling out of date stuff, and to my great horror I found a fruit juice that was several years out of date, but the label was in a foreign language so people buying would not know. The shop closed in the end, luckily.0 -

Providing the tins aren't damaged then the stuff in them will last for manymany years. BBE dates are to help stock rotation."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Yes I remember my uncle eating a tin of beans that were over ten years old. Not sure how he came to still have such an old tin, but I did see it with my own eyes. Personally I would not have the guts to risk it, but the tin in question did look fine with no faults or damage.0

Some people are in a legue of their own: my father is similar. My sister and me both left home around 10-15 years ago and he wont let us in the kitchen. Last time he did my sister took it upon herself to clean out his fridge, he hadn't done so since she left some 2 years earlier:eek: He doesn't eat the stuff in there, just buys it and takes stuff out to bin occasionally, lives on restaurant food, M&S meals and Waitrose meals, he has too much pride and no is not senile but wont get help for his problems or accept he has any, he just sees cleaning as "womens work" (he got a whole new kitchen as a result when the last was too much to clean up!)
I'd like to say he has changed but he hasn't and wont but at least we know he wont eat that food: cooking is afterall "womens work"!0 -
At the risk of an ear bashing, it does seem that mother nature assigned the male and female of the species with different abilities. The truth is men are hopelessly lonely and stupid on their own, and need the stablising and caring force of a good woman in their life. I am no exception but sadly I lack the social skills to make it a reality.0

Yes but when your a male in todays world, you divorce your wife and your children leave home (forget thinking what if we had been male children!) its not about what gender suits which role there comes a point where you have to take responsibility for cooking and cleaning after yourself. Its not even an age thing: in the army its taught and is very strict and dates back many decades if not longer.
It just amazes me that my father in all his years has not decided to do this yet- and I know why, its because he can just throw money at it (dinner needs making: buy it, heating floor needs hovering, get in a wooden floor, kitchen needs cleaning, get a new one...yes these are actual examples! Whats worse is he is continually complaining he is always broke!!).
I don't think thats a male thing, I think my father has an attitude problem as I've seen many males who'd easly buck the gender scale when it comes to housework.0 -

so are you actually saying that women should waste their precious resources (physical, emotional energy, time etc) for the good of a man who can't function using their own resources, and from what you are saying would not be able to reciprocate (maybe in exchange for a good salary, handyman work around the house... chances are they would not be very good with kids either...).
So why would a good woman need a man like that in her life? I think she'd be better off on their own.
Luckily not all men are like you describe, there are many many men out there who can give as much as they receive (practically and emotionally, both important aspects of a relationship), and treat their partner as their equal.0 -
I work next door to Nestle Purina's Petfood plant and if you think Nestle load their human food with sugar, you should see how many tanker-fulls they have delivered each week. And they promote their pet food as being healthy.Never Knowingly Understood.
