  • The Times recently did some taste comparison testing and the results were very illuminating - not what you might expect.

Check it out at the times website:

Just change the word dot for the character

Sorry not allowed to post with a link because I am a newbie and maybe a spammer - not likely can't stand the stuff. Have you ever seen Spam sick? I was scarred for life:rotfl:

I thought ford Produced Mazda's. They were also involved with Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin. Some have now been sold off

Saab were owned by GM (vauxhall) but with all the upheaval i'm not sure if they still are.

Apologies, your right and after a little googling its the Mondeo that the Mazda 6 is shared with, but still not sure about the Mazda 5

I work for the Allinson press office, so just wanted to clarify that there is actually no Allinson White Plain Flour on the retail market. Allinson has a range of breadmaking flours as well as wholemeal plain and wholemeal self-raising culinary flours.

    Hi

The Previous person didnt mention White or Wholemeal - does that mean that the Wholemeal you mention is exactly the same flour as Tesco Value Plain, Asda Smart Price Plain etc?

I worked for Thorntons and as said by other users Cadburys DO NOT make Thorntons chocolates. Thorntons have their own factory. They do however make some of the chocolates for M&S.

L'Oreal also own The Body Shop. Now I am sure the products are very different, Body shop do not test on animal however...L'Oreal do so if you are bothered about that or ethics then this info may be interesting to you.

Yeah, the Body Shop thing is also very disappointing because of Nestle's significant holdings in L'Oreal. Nestle's aggressive infant formula marketing and disinformation techniques in Africa directly contribute to suffering and death from malnutrition amongst African babies.

Sometimes it seems difficult to make ANY satisfactory environmental/ethical/non-exploitative choices in today's world (any consumption has repercussions somewhere), especially when on a budget, but I would encourage you all to get on the Nestle Boycott bandwagon, even if just a little or now and then. Switch to Kenco instead of Nescafe?

Ithink the confusion arises because they are both owned by the parent company, Cadbury. They are different plants and the taste is definitely different; I much prefer Cadbury chocolate :)

I don't know if similar to this has been posted already, but Sainsos Basics natural yoghurt is exactly the same product as Yeo Valley Organic Natural Yoghurt.

Yeo Valley :) I love to see that plant when I go on holiday in Somerset.

Sorry OT but I had to comment :-)

phew having tried going through all 57 pages i stopped at 20..so please forgive me if this info has been given already.

For electrical products i was told by someone who worked for Sony that their components are checked for quality. if they do not meet the standard they are given to their lower quality brand (Awia) But those components could be perfect with a visual blemish or not worth their weight . Hence why sometimes buying lower brand products is a lottery, sometimes you get high quality components in them, sometimes you dont.

With regards to makeup..its a similar thing. The higher brand products use higher quality versions of the ingredients, or with makeup , more pigments in say their foundations .
  • I once visited Pasta Foods in Great Yarmouth. Dried pasta came off the production line to be wrapped in outer wrappers for Tesco. That shrinkwrap finished and they set up another supermarkets outer wrap. They also wrapped the double length pasta that came in the deep blue outer wrapper with Italian flags all over it - which is much more expensive
  • Farmhouse Biscuits based in Nelson Lancashire make biscuits for Harrods and Fortnum and Mason as well as their own brand of biscuits. They have a factory shop in Nelson where you can buy loose biscuits and ones in tins with all the Harrods etc logos on for a bargain price. Booths and other supermarkets sell Farmhouse biscuits for about £1 ish a pack, much cheaper than Harrods!
