The difference is that Brown won international respect as Chancellor (regardless of the partisan sniping from some on here, the evidence points to the rest of the world following Brown's lead in the bank nationalisation programme and fiscal stimulus programme). Osborne on the other hand isn't even respected in the city.
There is something about being told you are wrong he just doesn't get. Its not about do we cut or don't we - both sides will cut. Its cut early and deep that so alarms the experts. The IMF said don't do it. The BoE said don't do it. The ratings agencies said he was talking nonsense about a ratings downgrade. The markets bought gilts after he said they wouldn't. Even the trading houses are starting to say that his proposed policies would cause the market to crash - the opposite of what he claims.
If Cameron ditched him and replaced him with Hammond (or Clarke?) and we started to see some consistency in their policies, they stand a very real chance of reversing their crashing poll lead. But Cam can't.
Just so you understand the UK has allready been donwgraded by Moody's from AAA resistant to AAA resilient. If they downgrade us to AAA vunerable then next step will be the big one guaranteed full blown credit crisis.
Also the ratings agencies are telling Darling he has to cut fast and deep with credibility or the rating goes.

Brown is a proven disaster, whose "fix" was to saddle the country with the hugest debt ever known, and who has always been happy to dish out our money to promote himself (whatever happened to "Make Poverty History" though?).Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »And that seems to be the consensus amongst political commentators - the man is a disaster. At home, Brown saying he can fix the economy is reminiscent of a rapist offering to walk his victim home after the event.0 -
Cable is the only man who even remotely seems to know what he is talking about (or at least he does a ruddy good job of making it look that way).
Wishy washy Clegg or not (he's still not that bad), Lib Dems will be getting my vote.0 -
they need to change the voting system. i have always lived in tory areas, so when I vote tory this time, the vote is meaningless and they will get in anyway. They should have some system whereby I can transfer my vote to a labour marginal seat. That way, I may have some say.0

I do believe that this is the first post you've made this year where you haven't said "it's much worse in Greece/France/Germany/Spain/Portugal/Australia/Japan/US/Canada" (delete as appropriate). Are you feeling okay Rochdale Pioneers?0 -
