Oh well, if people are offering, I'd be happy to have my name added to a 'waiting list' for either Small Biz & Charities, or another fairly quiet and non-argumentative one ...

I make a point of keeping up with that board, and my 'expertise' - if it can be called that! - is on the charity side, but recognising the need to approach it in a businesslike way, IYSWIM.

    Go for it Sue :)

    Hi Folks.

You'll notice we have no Board Guides in the new site. I thought I'd take this opportunity to rejig who does what and get all the boards covered. However, before i start:-

What is a board guide? It's a volunteer job to help organise the smooth running of a specific board (e.g. shop but don't drop). The aim is to help newbies, make sure there aren't lots of different posts on the same thing, guide people in the right direction, and close off dead threads.

What it isn't Don't worry this isn't a moderator job, you won't be involved in dealing with abuse - that's going to be kept to the Abuse Controllers.

Do I need to be an expert No. On some boards a specialist knowledge is very useful, but for many just being interested in the subject is enough.

Do I need to be a techie No, a willingness to play with the technology helps. However if you're a new board guide, and want help we can pair you up with an existing one who can be a board guide guide (gulp!)

How much time This really is a job for someone who is a very regular user, on and looking around most days would be very helpful.

Why on earth should i do it? Well I hope it would be fun. It's definitely a way to be involved in the MSE community. However it's also more than that - these forums have a real impact on peoples lives - they have more money in their pockets, make friends, feel empowered, take on companies. You'll see below many of the people who were board guides on the old boards want to do it again - so it can't be too bad :)

What you need to tell me.

So please tell me if you want to be a board guide and which boards you'd like.

I will consider two guides per board.

Existing board guides, will you help me by noting what guides you are guide of and whether you want to change and/or want more.

Thanks very much to all volunteers

    Martin

Does it pay around 20k a year ???????????
  • I'd love to be a board guide, I know my post count is quite low but thats because I was on this site for ages before actually registering. I wud like to put my name forward for the "Freebies (no spend required) board". My "techieness" - not pro standard but I got an A* in my IT/ICT GCSE.

I am downright outraged that I have been offered this opportunity to keep that lot under control

Of course I am of the right calibre unlike some others up there  :p

If I win the BG pagent my aim is to become a vet because I love children, and if I should become queen for a day I would declare world peace :D

How much does it pay, I am on here about 23 hours of the day so could be lucrative, and is it tax free?
