Worst OS chore?

I've just finished picking the scraps of meat off my boiled chicken carcass for chicken fried rice .... it really isn't a very enjoyable job (although strangely satisfying!) _pale_

My pet hate is cleaning shoes.
Honest - I'd sooner clean the loo!
It stems from my childhood; I was made to clean my father's shoes from the time I was big enough to actually lift them - 99 times out of 100, as soon as he'd taken them off after a day at work, when they were still warm, and he had horrible smelly feet; and if I didn't do them straight away, I'd get a good hiding.
Luckily for me, Mr LW doesn't mind cleaning shoes, and is happy to do mine as well as his own.:AIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Cleaning the oven is my pet hate.
1. I can't get down to do it cos gammy knees
2. It is a horrible messy job even though it gets wiped out every time it is used
Luckily Mr BB is a master and gives it a good scrub once a monthBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Ditto, although it is my dodgy back instead of gammy knees!Butterfly_Brain wrote: »Cleaning the oven is my pet hate.

Hoovering stairs and cleaning skirting boards. We live in a tall thin house, so I have 3 flights to do!
Cooking wise, peeling the skins off broad beans and cleaning stubbourn pans, usually when I have made a white sauce or scrambled eggs. It always sticks.0 -
Agree they're all gruesome jobs but sounds like you've all got helpful husbands so that's good x
Arrgggh I'd forgoton about cleaning white sauce pans - yuk!
Oven doesn't really get cleaned often enough for it to cause me too much of a problemBon App's Scraps!MFb40 # 130 -
Cleaning the fridge! Ground level small fridge, kills my back and knees. Always full of mud at the bottom because we get veg from the organic delivery boxes and they are always quite muddy.
Also, £%$^^&*(£** other members of my family do not mop up accidental spills and I regularly find crusted milk, juice and various other organic substances slowly mutating into gruesome life-forms - just as well it is cold so the mutation is slooooooowwwww!
Edited to say: I used to hate cleaning the porridge pan after making porridge, until a very helpful suggestion from a friend (very OS!) turned it into a pleasure. He said that the way to clean a porridge pan is to make onion soup in it! I don't always use it for onion soup but other soup work just as good! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
If you fill a porridge pan with water and leave it for a couple of hours, the porridgey layer just lifts right off.
I don't like "faffy cooking" - i like cooking in general but a couple of things I make, like lentil pasties, are just really fiddly and time consuming. super cheap though!August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
I think it has to be cleaning the oven...but I'm sure I can think of more that I hate equally - especially when I've signed up to the flylady thread. actually, I think cleaning the kids' rooms is worse than the oven!weaving through the chaos...0

tip for stubborn pans/baked on pasta etc - dump a bit of biological washing powder in the bottom, fill to the top with really hot water. Leave as long as you can, rinse0
