My overdraft with Lloyds was recalled, despite having over £2500 a month going into my account. They didn't give me any reason either, other than poor credit?
After a week of wasting time investigating it it turned out that I had a really old mobile phone contract that I thought was cancelled, but it wasn't and it still had a debt on it. As I'd moved o2 had no way of getting hold of me (other than looking at the new contract I had with them, but that's too simple). So they instructed a debt collector to get me. This put a black mark on my credit file and Lloyds for some reason shut the overdraft down with no warning AT ALL.
Weird thing is as soon as I got o2 to remove the black mark (their error not mine), the overdraft appeared again. So I thought it must have been automatic or something?
Anyway, just something to think about if you think you might fall into a spot of bother an default on a repayment. I hope this doesn't happen to any of you - was rather embarrasing having some spotty teenager who was clearly just out of school telling me I was a risk to them to give me a £250 overdraft, despite this amount only being a 10th of what is paid in each month!
