Post gone missing what can i do ?

Oh, I think it has gone beyond the delivery office. Having had the experience of a postman who was thieving mail, your story sounded familiar. I would say that your visit to the delivery office turned the heat up enough either for Royal Mail to investigate and recover your mail or for the postman himself to deal with his stash.

I presumed this was because I live near a small post town and these companies don't make the trip to my delivery office more than once a week or so.

lol they dont deliver to delivery offices at all
these companies deliver to their nearest mail centre and thats it

They don't seem to pass ours over all that frequently, they all seem to come on the same day.

Ahh deanos didn't realise you were up that way. My sis in Law is in Swineshead.

DSA companies get better rates for bulk (i believe) so its in their interest to try and make drop offs as large as possible
