Gemm - glad you've made a decision and are feeling much better. I took VR almost 12 years ago. The company I worked for asked me to come back PT and I also got offered a postion in a rival firm who got wind of me leaving and headhunted me. I declined both offers and to be honest haven't looked back. Money was an issue with me for a while (not a lack of it as such, but the fact I'd always had my own money and suddenly had to get used to spending someone elses), but I got JSA for a year and then set up my own business which I sold on two and half years ago - without VR that would never have happened. Like my gran says, "when you close one door another will open but not necessarily in the direction you were expecting!!! Keep an open mind and grab an opportunity when it appears!!!"

Have a great day at the Papermill - I have to travel to Ashford for my nearest one, so always buy masses to make it worthwhile. The last time I went they'd changed the pricing, £4.99 for a large box, only thing was they didn't have a huge selection of coloured card/papers.

CGcockcroft - Florida how lovely. Don't forget to cram everyones clothes into one case so that you have empty cases for craft stuff!

Rainmac - I sympathise with you regarding the volunteer situation. I was chair of a pre-school and also sat on the PTA committee and we always struggled with volunteers, but amazingy those that never helped were always the first to criticise if things weren't perfect or if we had to cancel an activity or planned event. If I lived nearer I'd offer to man a stall for you. Good luck with finding helpers.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my blog. Tomsmum - the last few cards I've sent have had to be boxed and sent as packet rate (it's those handmade flowers, they're way too bulky!!), I'm always too scared to send stuff second class as I have a weird theory that the longer it's in the postal system, the more likely they are too lose or damage it! However, I may give it go to see what happens.

Have a great day everyone. x

It's the same everywhere then ;) I am on the committee for DS2's preschool too and we have the same problems.

Hmmnnn, that only works when they are little :rotfl:when my teenage daughter found my stash, that was it, she has been using them on her GCSE projects - don't mind really as she has produced some stunning pieces :D

Rainmac + Choccy - it's a shame when people 'disappear' from our little community, of course we all have other things to do that cause us to 'dip out' from time to time as well as techie troubles without starting on the prospect of post going astray. They could just be reading - on here you never know.

I sometimes wonder though, especially with those who seemed to really enjoy the chat, if they are poorly or something and if I'd seem like a :eek:dreadful stalker  if I contacted them :o Before I make a fool of myself I'd welcome your thoughts...........

I don't think you need to worry Marg, although I can only post my own experience and speak for myself.

From being an active poster on our thread and taking part in CP swaps, my depression got progressively worse & worse and I stopped posting and taking part in swaps, then I stopped reading posts, then I stopped going on my 'puter, withdrawing completely into myself and my "problems".

The cards and pm's I received from meant sooooo much to me - it is very humbling when you realise that people you have never met, care enough to reach out to show they care. I couldn't ask for more lovely stalkers :rotfl:

I love this little thread for its caring, community spirit. My issue at the moment is that I feel like a bit of a fraud being here because of home pressures, I'm not actively card-making and have no money to buy lovely stash. I'm sort of a card-making stalker :rotfl: going oooh and ahhhh at everyone's lovely makes :D.

So I'd say, go ahead, send a card or a pm - it may make someone's day - it certainly did for me. HTH, Thriftyxxx

Don't worry, the cases will be full, the craft stuff will have to get it's elbows out to fight with all fabulous shoes, clothes, bags, Disney, Universal, Sea World, Kennedy Space Centre stuff (am assuming it's Orlando you're going to).

I'm a Disney nut and am soooooo jealous - you will just have the best time. Check out this forum

I'm hoping to go back but it won't be for another 3 or 4 years.
