Has anyone got any ideas what I can put on a card for my friend. Not really sure of her likes and dislikes but want to make her a really nice card for her birthday - the day before Mothers day. She is a childminder like myself and is always there for me when I need help and support. I have been out looking for a stamp to make a card but haven't found anything inspiring.

I have signed up for notification when it is back in stock hopefully before I have to spend my pay on something sensible like food lol. Just been paid but it doesn't stay in the bank for long.

Trouble is I started to look at Cricut stuff to pass some time and seen lots of cartridges I want lol.

Is it Popkins who likes pink have you got a Cricut - they have a pink one on Craft Superstore.

ooh thanks for that, I really want a cricut now after seeing everyone on here make such fab stuff, didn't know they had a pink one though! off to have a lookee ;)

I have just deleted the folder in my favourites on my google chrome browser and lost all my saved faves. I am so not happy. Anyone got any ideas on how to get them all back. Pleeasse.

Repeat myself - do not be so control freakish that you have to put everything in alphabetical order in future

.... believe me, if I hadn't had my girls weekend away so recently, my arm could be twisted....

.... but I 'as a plan .... 6 months to work on oh for another "girls weekend away" in November haha :rotfl:

I hope to save some pennies and do the NEC in November as well. If you can get a cheap flight to Manchester I can pick you up on route down the motorway as the airport is only 10 mins away.
Thanks for all the lovely comments on my Mom card.

JHB, I always call my mom, mom and yet everyone calls theirs mum? Must be a midlands thing maybe??

Rusty are you originally from the Midlands then? I'm originally from Solihull which was South of Birmingham so that may explain me using Mom. My DS is 7 and DD is 4 and I am still having to remind DH to get them to write Mom rather than Mum.

I may be opening a can of worms here but can someone please explain the main differences between Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Craft Robo and Cricut.

My birthday isn't until September so I've got along time to wait mind.

Right I'm off to bed. Hopefully those of you in pain will have restful nights.

Tired Mom the Cuttlebug and the Big Shot are manual die cutting and embossing machines, they use metal dies and embossing folders. The Cricut is electronic and uses cartridges for cutting shapes. The Craft Robo and the Silhouette machines are connected to your computer, you can download shapes to cut out any size and it will cut any True Type Font you have on your computer. You can also use drawing programmes to create your own shapes to cut.

    Hi everyone

Crafty JuJu - I love your sock buddy - are the instructions online for this or from a book??? With regards to what you should charge, I would add up cost of materials and add a few pounds (at least double) for your time. I have generally charged £8 ish for my sock monkeys and abit more if I am wrapping and tarting it up. The problem with charging more is that people don't want to pay it and get put off. They will pay it in a shop but not to an individual for some silly reason. Try for more and see what they say but it might prevent you getting more orders if you price it higher. It does look very professional though x

Thankyou :) I did my first sock creatures following instructions from the book 'stray sock sewing' but for this one I made it up as I went along from what I had learnt. I really enjoy making them, just need to find a way to cut the time it takes to take the cost down a little if I was to sell more...may try the sewing machine...but must watch the fingers!! lol :D

I know what you mean about how people will pay redic prices instores but not when something has been hand made. Two years ago I started making scarves to sell & found if I sold them for £12 that was ok but when I tried £15 it just didnt sell! I found the same with my handmade cards!

He emailed earlier to find out how much he owed me, I said £15 (test the water!) & he seemed fine with it. With it being a special request to make him look like sack boy I thought it be ok to try :)
Thats going into my NEC funds :D I'd like to start making more creatures & hopefully one day get around to setting up a store on-line on Esty (is that how u spell it?) or the other....err...does it begin with f? I'm terrible at remebering names!

    xx

Hi, just wondering if you ladies could give me some advice please.

I was thinking of purchasing a couple of circle punches. I note that a couple of them say that you can view exactly where you are punching out. Are all the circle punches like this??

I do have a cuttlebug ...... do I choose the die's or punch's ...... I'm thinking the hand punches would be a little quicker/easier to use.

Well done for getting £15!!! If he is willing to pay then who are you to argue lol!!! More for your spends at the NEC!!!!

I prefer to sew by hand as I find it relaxing. I am not so good with the machine as it seems to run away and I don't find it easy to guide the needle!!! That's just me though, I know alot of people do make them on machines and whizz through them.

I get annoyed that people will pay allsorts of money for things in a shop yet won't pay it for a unique, handmade item from someone they know!!!

I think you were looking for the word Folksy!!!
