Mad Frog . Spoke to a lovely lady at education dept who said if we appeal hopefully we'll win but Carly isn't statemented yet which would help us and they have different addresses even though carly's here an awful lot and we pay her school fees etc.
She also told me i may need to apply to a totally different school altogether for both of them as it has a sensory impairment unit attatched and they would be pushing for carly to go there at nursery age as well as school age as they wouldn't want to have to fund similar facilities at another school for one child. They would send her to do bsl for an hour a week in the unit and the rest of the time in main stream school. Her deaf teacher should have told us this and had carly's application in and her statement in place ready for june when they allocate places for nursery . Now we have to appeal for Kaitlyn to stay at our first choice school near carly then when her statement is done and approved change them both to the specialist school so they can be together. Nightmare . good job i'm laid back and not a stress head like my o/h and my daughter.

Thankfully I've never had to go through statementing but my bst friend, Mum and Sister are all Primary School teachers so I've heard a lot about it. Sounds like having the 'old' deaf teacher on-side should really help you to get through all the paperwork etc.
My sister once had a partially sighted child who didn't speak English at all put in her, already over-full class, when she queried why the child had not gone to the other class in that year which had fewer children she was told that it was because he had 'no issues'. Well apart from not being able to see or communicate I suppose the headteacher was right but because there was no statment there was no reason (apart from common sense) why not!

Craftygranny Sorry to read all about the hasstle you are having at the mo... Are you going to appeal re Kaitlyn's school and explain the circumstances? It is really frustrating re Carly's teacher I am fuming on your behalf too  Statementing can be such a laborious process and it is appalling that the Special Needs unit doesn't have a record of Carly. I would be asking the teacher why there is no record and ask her to forward any info she has to both yourselves and the unit straight away. Atleast you will be having some support from her old teacher which is a real bonus and card up your sleeve. If you are not happy with the outcome, I would get your MP involved.. they will be looking for votes at the mo IYSWIM I have had my MP involved with some education issues I have had before now and it has helped. Hope you don't mind me putting my two penneth in?? Alicia sounds like she is certainly ready for coming home now, as you say, not long now, a week.. bet it can't go quick enough for her though...

If you have a British Bookshops near you, they are selling them for £19.99 atm.

Craftygranny - sorry to hear about your troubles, no advice to offer really other than appeal and point out your difficult circumstances. Life is tricky enough for you and your family without all of this.

Rainmac - good luck with the DT. The flowers on my blog are really quick and easy to make. I cut strips of fabric, folded it and then cut multiple base shapes. I think I should get around 70 - 100 flowers from 1m so they're really cheap too.

There are some gorgeous makes on peoples blogs yet again.

The wife - I've got the image I used on the card I blogged on 26/3 if that's any good. I can email it to you if you pm me your email address. Too late just now to put pic on here but it's a bear with a blue/lilac brolly being rained on by flowers.

Will reply to other things I've read tomorrow oops! later today.
