jazabelle I would advise using freecycle wherever you can.
I am secretary for our school PTA & when we have a fete coming up I put up a freecycle add asking for all suitable items for a tombola, indulgence stall, teddy tombola etc giving ideas of suitable items.
I always express the fact that they will be stall items so the need for complete, good condition items are essential & we have had some superb results.
Also if you kow this is a regular thing you can collect items in rediness from offered adds too. We have a storecupboard at the school & use that.
The calendars are stuck onto a covered beer mat or mountboard which you can easily do. Nip into a picture framers as they often bundle up the offcuts for a very good price ( some give them away )
Rainmac made some super post it note, paperclip & magnetic pegs which are on her blog. I made some adding a pen to the set & gifted them to the TA at end of term. They were very well recieved.
Hope everyone is well today. I MUST make DD a b'card (I shamefully always tend to buy them ) went to a crop yesterday,, yet to put everthing away & rain rain rain here.0 -

Thank you, that's awesome! I will do that in a couple of weeks time when I have more time to go and collect things. The only problem will be storage, as we have a share the office with the council who treat us like crap, and won't give us any space what-so-ever. For example, we have 11 members of staff, and four desks. Yeah, fun times."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Hello! We've just got back from our weekend away and I've not read back yet - I'm going to do that after we've been to collect Susie but I just wanted to say sorry to rainmac for condemning her to an afternoon of ironing because we didn't really have enough time to meet up.:( I'm so sorry, I wouldn't willingly wish that on anyone.(the ironing that is not meeting up).
The LAA rally wasn't as bad as I thought it might be and if anyone wants the address of a super farm B&B near Market Harborough I can recommend one.0 -
Jazabelle Thankyou for your comments. The envelope backs are the cardboard envelopes you sometimes use for sending photos, they usually say Please Do Not Bend on the front.
Or you can use Mountboard like this its brilliant and really strong too.0 -

PONR I've never been, nor will ever be going, to the US but I'm loving hearing about all your craft shopping and bargains. Ouch about your foot. Can you not get it looked at while you are there? Would it be covered by your travel insurance? So pleased to hear about your auntie, such good news for her. My OH had a check up on Tuesday and he's now being transferred to Outpatients rather than the unit, 6 weeks between appointments, he's thrilled and so is his consultant.
Great news about your OH - it's always fab to hear this type of news. No, foot would not be covered on insurance as it's a previous problem not a new one!!! I'll get mum to make an appointment so that I can go quickly on my return.pointofnoreturn - I will write to some, I just feel it's a bit cheeky after some have been so generous, but I guess they can only say no! The ones that annoyed me were the local football team who wrote back to say no, they pay directly to charities to make sure the money gets to them. Umm, read the letter - we ARE a registered charity, and the only WOULD directly help people. They could have sent something - a mug? A scarf?
I think when you are fundraising you have to be cheeky otherwise you wouldn't get anything!!! I think if you could get a programme printed for the day and let donating companies have a free mention in it that would be good. I'd be inclined to write again to the local football teams and say you appreciate that they pay directly to charities but you are not asking for a monetary donation but something like a signed football or scarf that you can use in a raffle. Send them some details of your charity including the work it does, charity reg number and things that you have done with the money to help people. What about local radio stations??? They might have something or give a free plug to your event on air???The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -
