OAP, I haven't received my stash of ribbons yet either. I know my email was sent. I get my bits and pieces delivered to work so I'm hoping a parcel is waiting for me on Wednesday.
Thank you for the lovely comment on my card, I'm sure it was a card of yours last year that gave me the idea of getting JS's CD. My sis in law loves these images as I've used them on commission cards I've made, your idea has given me an idea for a Christmas prezzie for her, thank you. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -

For the Black and White challenge. My first challenge ever! I'm terrible at taking photos, sorry."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

Thank you! Some gorgeous stuff there!
I got a bargain today - I was bought an ATG tape dispenser for my birthday, but kept forgetting to order some tape for it. I went a few weeks ago and they were all out of stock on the 3M site. I went back today and they have a sale on - I spent over £10 so got free postage AND found a code for 20% off (THANKYOU is the code) so didn't do too badly at all! Got three tapes to keep me going and the adaptor so I can use 6mm.
Also put in an order at Liz's crafts. My spending it getting a bit ridiculous, as I have hardly anything to last me the month now. It's just so addicitive!
The fete went really well today! The poor facepainters were non-stop, and did around 70 children. We raised £173 for my charities hardship fund, which will go towards helping our low income customers buy things like grabrails, security locks, key safes etc if they can't afford them.
I would like to do a fete at Christmas, and have been thinking about what we can do. We had a variety of things today - facepainting, a raffle, a free quiz, guess how many sweets in a jar and a lolly game where you could win sweets, a teddy or a lolly. The facepainting and lolly game, and quiz went down really well. We had some great prizes for the raffle, but people didn't seem to notice the posters - I guess because the prizes weren't physically there (as they were all envelopes and things).
So for Christmas, I was thinking of a tombola, lucky dip and a game where you have all kinds of tinsel in a closed box - with them poking out the hole. They pick on, and if it has a ticket at the end, they win a prize. And a free christmas quiz where they can win an hour of handyperson or gardening work. Or, if we do a raffle again - just have one prize - a big hamper, filled with nice things, rather than a list of other prizes. I think that will be more eye catching.
I've just emailed everyone at work asking if they have any donations of tombola prizes. I really hope a few people do at least, because I've already written to most of the companies in town asking for donations of raffle prizes and they responded generously - so I can't ask again! Does anyone have any ideas where I can get tombola prizes from please that I haven't tried already?
I was also thinking of trying to make some bits to sell - like nicely decorated note pads, and that kind of thing? But because of my condition I don't get long to sit and make things, so not sure how many I could do.
I think I'm the only one still here, so better go to bed!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Jazabelle - I don't see why you couldn't approach the same companies again. You could say that they kindly donated to your last fundraiser in which you raised XXX amount of money for XXX charity and that their donation was very well received in your raffle. Then say that you are holding a Christmas fair for the same charity and wondered if they would like to donate something again. You could produce a small printed leaftlet in which you could let them put a small simple advert for their company so that they get publicity from the event.
I know alot of the ladies on here buy post it pads cheap in Asda and then decorate and add a pen and sell them and they seem to be popular at fairs.
Sorry forgot to say lovely cards, very pretty. The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -
