    Hiya,

I recently did those pink/cream ones for my friend (sorry will upload final photo later not sure where camera is at the mo!!) and charged £1.35 each - totally undercharged really but I wanted to do it as a bit of a pressie so would definitely charge more for someone else - dunno but prob £2 I think - they were A5 size so quite big - for the £1.35 I think I 'made' about 40p an invite for my time which works out at less than minimum wage!!!

    HTH

Thankyou for that, she just wants small ones and isn't bothered about posh card or anything like that  have just been round there and she just wants small card blanks then has seen some ribbon ebay and just print out the inside. All seems a bit cheap to me for the materials but if that is what she wants then I guess it is none of my business.

I was thinking for the materials (her suggestions)
Some card blanks (Anitas are £2.99 for 50?) so 2 packs
    Ribbon (£3.97 from china) x 2 rolls (100m)
and she just wants the word wedding on the front which will be a peel off job surely? Not sure how much these are though? (found some for 44p a sheet?)

So just cost on this alone is only £16.56 I know there is ink on top of that but we have a continuous ink supply so could just add on the cost of a bottle of black ink which is only a few £. and then a pack of paper to print on which would be a few £.
Realistically the cost of them should be roughly £25. I have 80 to make?
She did say she didn't want to pay £200 for invites cause that is a rip off which is why she wanted simple and cheap?

  • I have finally caught up on posts and if two mindees stay asleep for another hour then I am off to blog hop. But first am after a bit of advice (warning could be very long).

I really enjoyed crafting just before Christmas but have done none since. Reason being not having a specific craft area and can't leave it out downstairs anywhere as I have children in all day. So I had a joiner in to give a quote for my little bedroom to be turned into a craft room but the quote was just under £500 which to be honest for what it is is worth it and if I bought table/storage/shelving separate for what I need would cost about the same as having what I actually want done by the joiner.

Anyhow worked out would have saved enough by end of April to have it done but hubby has just got a bonus from work and now the energy bill has been paid has kindly said he will lend me the rest and I can pay him back (did have £100 already saved but have had to dip into it for various things whereas if I pay hubby back it would be easier.

If you are still reading I now have a bit of a dilemma. At the moment my income comes from one family and mum has just dropped the bombshell on me that I may lose all three children in July. Can understand why and completely understand but am now panicking over having no money in July.

My dilemma is do I bury my head in the sand and go ahead and have my craft room done or not have it done. My head says no (but also know that the money will not get saved but swallowed up in the day to day spending) but my heart says I need the craft room as it is my way of relaxing and life is stressful sometimes. Would value your honest opinion (not saying I will listen though lol)? What would you do? What would you like me to do lol

what an awful dilemma to have nannyboo. I would be inclined to get a desk and maybe a few shelving units from IKEA or somewhere (even though it may be temporary) and hold off having the *big* spend until your future income is more certain xx

Nannyboo, is there an opportunity open for you to have more mindees after July? This is way over my head and I know absolute zilch about the subject.

It sounds like a good price from the joiner and I'm sure plenty of others can give advice on the Ikea storage. Is there room for you to have the littleys craft with you which might be something you can offer.

    Sorry I can't help further.

  • I agree with Gemm.. Get a desk just a cheap one to see you through or even a lap tray... Thats all i use at the moment.
Then i agree with The wife under 10's crafting would be a fantastic idea...advertise now that you will have vacancies in summer..Just incase ;) It need not be expensive.. Wilko have lots of childrens craft stuff.

Tell the joiner that quoted you the price that you have had some unexpected news and could he hold that price for 3 months

Sorry i cant help more. But hopefully us offerring you suggestions may find you a solution :D

  • Well I`ve managed (only just) to read the thread, after a morning down the allotment. I tried to keep note of who did what, when, where.

    sunrise - lovely notelets
saucy -hope your feeling better soon
    padstar - welcome back
CT - shame about not going to the NEC
craftygranny - so glad carly is getting on well and you had a lovely day together. Hope Alicia`s having a ball.
DTB - great news about your sister oming home, hope her OH was able to get her drink
Rusty - hope your feeling better soon.
nannybo - what a delima, I would feel the same as you with my heart for the craftroom and head for saving( sorry not much help I know), But to be honest I would wait until later for the craftroom, as I would worry about bills etc. I don`t have a craftroom myself, just a small corner of our dining room and the kids are pretty good, they don`t touch or go near my stash unless i`m there, doing my crafty bit. But I expect they`re a bit older to the little ones you look after, mine are 7 and 9. Sorry I know not very helpful.

  • This was s'posed to be a flying visit...........but I've ended up staying, reading the thread and viewing blogs!

Giggle those note holders are fantastic and the bags finish them off. Have left a comment (nice one) and am now stalking you!

I wish I'd known that lots of you were online in the middle of the night - I'd have joined you, instead of which I ironed.

Nannyboo - if the money will be frittered away anyway, I'd go ahead get it done but make the big push to get replacement children (oh that doesn't sound right - hopefully you know what I mean).

The reason I popped on here was to say I'm having a fabby day and have no one to share it with! Hope you don't mind me sharing, but I'm feeling quite :D:D:D.....

This morning I managed to get free tickets for the Alice in Wonderland preview screening tonight - my kids are going to be thrilled.

Then my Mum rang and asked if I knew that a store near me (less than 10 minutes away) had a large craft section. I didn't as the store is somewhere I've always avoided as it's a shabby looking warehouse that used to stock junk. Decided I'd go and explore and WOW - 4 huge aisles of craft stuff. The best bit was I got some Card Candy for £1 a pack and they stock Martha Stewart Punches and an almost full range of Ranger Distress products.

To top my day a friend rang to announce she is finally expecting. She's had two rounds of IVF and had given up hope, but has fallen naturally, so I'm truly thrilled for her.

Don't think my day can get any better - well unless I win the lottery!:D
