Hello! I'm a complete beginner to card making and I'm on here trying to get some advice!

I'm hoping to make our make all of our wedding stationery and I want to make them on the computer and print them off - but I would really appreciate if any of you could help me with what products to buy?

I want to make my own invites, place cards etc and I think I'm going to need a guillotine/paper cutter and something to help me crease paper. I have seen lots online but I have no idea how good they are, I have used rubbish ones before that will barely cut paper let alone card! Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have seen some rounded corner punches - do these work and look good? I have seen invites with the rounded corners and they look so professional!

I'd also like to make some confetti for our table - does anyone know of anything similar that's a better price than this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Martha-Stewart-LARGE-LACE-SCALLOP-HEART-PUNCH-M42-30005-/200477439136?pt=UK_Crafts_Cardmaking_Scrapbooking_DieCutting_Punches_EH If a large detailed heart punch costs £20 that's fine but I just wasn't sure if someone knew a great resource for cheaper punches!

I'm so sorry to come on here and just jump straight in asking for loads of help... But it's a big challenge I'm about to undertake I think and I think the work on here is just amazing and I'd better ask the professionals!!! ;) I know I'm sucking up but it can't hurt surely? :D
    I love surprises!

    Morning Ladies.

Maggie111 - Welcome to the thread. All I know that Martha Stewart punches are the best, and for wedding invites I wouldn't buy a cheaper alternative. You may be able to find one cheaper than that though. Someone else may be able to help you on prices as I'm a total novice when it comes on online craft shopping - they may know better/cheaper sites than me!

Edited to add: I've been looking around and found this one, still a heart but much cheaper than ebay. More here including the one you wanted.

I hope you feel better today Crafty Granny and Soulie.

Thankyou Soulie for the link to the freebies too - I have downloaded them all! Some great advice there too. I have always loved anything crafty and made my own cards on occasion (mainly cross stitched ones though). I'm really getting into it in the past month. My stash has grown tremendously due to a combination of spending my birthday money and a small bingo win. :D I've been threatening DD1 telling her she's got to leave home so I can have a craft room, but she's not shifting :rotfl:- I'll have to get myself a workstation instead of spreading my craft stuff out over the dining room table.

PONR - Have a fab time on holiday. I hope your foot doesn't give you too much trouble.

    Good morning all

Another busy day today, so may not be back on till later

    PONR - enjoy your holiday.

Maggie111 - Welcome - I havent been doing crafting that long, but there are scoreboards and cutters that people have mentioned on here, not sure what they are, but someone will be along later who can help. It would probably be better to get a good quality corner cutter (there is one called the corner chomper, like this one) to make sure your invites look good. You can always sell it on ebay after if you dont use it again. If you want a standard shape card, it may be easier to buy them pre-folded, it will save you time. Hope that helps. Sorry havent been alot of help.

Hope everyones having a good day. Hugs to all. x

    Good morning!

Thank you for the freebies PONR & Soulie

    Well Done Dragonllew

Maggie111 - Welcome! I use a Woodware fingerguard trimmer Like on this page & I like it - I think some others use them as well - you can get different blades for it and I think you can get a scoring blade for it but I've never had or used one. I last night that someone had put a lightly used heart punch on ebay - might be worth watching. HTH

PONR - Have a good holiday (in case I forget to say it nearer the time :o) How long are you going for?
