Im a newbie card maker/crafter, im learning to knit with my Aunties help, and would also like to make cards - I have picked up a lot of things on the way, stickers, stencils, etc - can you help me with inspiration though - where do you look for it? any good websites? Im good at making things just dont have the inspiration to get me there :o
Also - I went to hobby craft, I was looking to buy card for my cards - their A5 pre folded cards were (IMO) expensive, can I ask what you all do? fold your own? from A4? How?
Sorry to jump on here, you all look really close and friendly from what I have read so far

    Hiya and welcome!!!

I bought card blanks last week at Hobbycraft 5x7 and they were on offer for £4.99 which is a decent price - not sure if that offer has ended now though. You could try going to The Works if you have a store close to you as they often have them on offer if you buy 2 packs.

I fold my own when I am doing shaped cards like stepper or easel cards but otherwise I use card blanks.

You can get inspiration from lots of craft sites by checking out their galleries, also from card magazines and by looking at people's blogs which can be found by clicking on the person's name and then onto their homepage.

Welcome Little Otter, this is a great place to be for help and inspiration. Check out the blogs of the posters on here (right click under their names and go and have a look at their websites) If you like the look of their creations well then you're away. If you check out Melissa's homepage (at the top of this page)as she has created a brilliant list of challenge blogs, check any of them out and you will find the Design Teams blogs, check them out too and any links they have created. Have a look at Splitcoaststampers website here loads of cards, check their gallery. The only thing you shouldn't do is post an exact copy of someone's creation and pass it off as yours.

Me personally, I fold my own cards with a Scor-pal board using card A4 or A3 usually from Papermill shops or where ever I see some I like. That way I can create the size I want.

Hope this helps, please don't be afraid to ask any questions on here as we all started somewhere and forumites are always happy to pass details of a site or any help you need..

Sorry liz - I didn't realise the Argos ones were so expensive.

SallyUK - I've PMd and emailed you. :)

Rusty Sending you hugs and hope your painters turn up soon.

Hassy Oh that's a gorgeous part of France. OH was brought up in Villeneuve Loubet which is between Nice and Antibes, his gran lives just outside Antibes so we go whenever we can. His uncle and cousins live all over France but we've not visited any of them yet :( Have a wonderful time.

bunbun What is Toulouse like - that's where OH would be most likely to get a job if we ever move to France...

lrlrip - get Memento ink (I think Joanne Sheen is the cheapest atm), an acrylic block, Promarkers a good starter kit is skin tones and this set . Double sided tape, Anita's tacky glue, scissors and that's about it on the essentials lists for what you want to do. If you visit your local lbrary, they should have some good books on stamping and techniques - I'll dig out one of the books I got that was really helpful and post the title of it.

Thanks for that. I will also have a trip to the library:T

Irlip - Is it you who is looking for a reasonable place to buy supplies? If you are near to Aberdeen I fully recommend The Paperterie in Dyce, I have been there 3 times and regularly send OH in his lunchbreak from work to go and pick me up boxes of card or other things I need ;) the prices are reasonable and they do classes aswell. For things like their boxes of card, it is much better quality than papermill and a lot more choice!

Thanks I am planing a trip to Dyce next week, can't wait.

Sorry to hear your sad news and hope you feel better soon.
