I agree that party leaflets etc, and also the televised debates, have not focused enough on what each party's policies are, and have put far too much focus on slagging one another off..which i think is childish, and worrying if they think that that is the most useful tactic to use to persuade the majority of their potential supporters..

    Totally agree with this,
until last night I really didn't understand each parties policies, or have a clue who I was going to vote for, and even then it took a LOT of searching to find answers I could comprehend :o
But that might just be me not able to process information very well.

I don't think it's junkmail. If you ban flyers, how else do you actually find out about who's running in your area and what their policies are unless you're one of the very few people interested enough to research it via websites etc? 5 minute party political broadcasts aren't that helpful.

I see your point but I do feel angry when despite a polite sign I keep getting wasted paper through my door. It's lack of respect for my wishes and it infuriates me. That goes for the free paper, takeaway menus, catalogues everything not just the political fliers. In this day and age of paperless offices, ecommerce and egovernment especially they should practice what they preach.

Our polling station was empty apart from me and an old dear lol (but we are in a village so may be different in the town). Its funny in a way as they are using the community centre and its a huge room where they host events and its empty apart from a desk with 2 woman attending it and a teeny tiny wee stand where you put your cross lol

Would have thought it would have been better to use the side room lol Still least they arent shutting the school down for it- something I object to strongly!

I also can't stand the tv debates, it would be laughable watching grown men behave in such a way as that apart from the sorry fact that one of them is most likely going to responsible for running the country.

Now see I thought this of Labour and the Tories (and Im a lifelong Labour supporter), but I thought Clegg put his points across very well in the leaders debates and actually has some substanence (something Cameron is highly lacking in), plus I like my local lib dem candidate as she actually lives int his village and is passionate about it (had a good old chat with her when they came round the doors- somthing the other parties never did)...to be honest I would be happy whoever gets in as long as its not Tory or BNP (theres big support for them up here which really saddens me)...........

Ok getting down rom my soap box now lol

No.They used to shut the whole school down for the day! In the area where my boys are at school they have used the library this year but the whole library has to be shut down for it to happen.

I was talking to my mum about that today (they use her school as a polling station) and apparently there are very strict regs about places they can use - there has to be a dedicated entrance and exit, loos, safe storage area etc. If the school can offer a separate space (ie her school uses the sports hall which has all of the above) then they don't need to close it completely.
