Ouch Alex. It always amazes me the number of people who don't put a seatbelt on in a taxi, and with kids and babies too, madness. Just be thankful it was just a bust lip Alex xx.
DB post is on it's way xx
The ebay sewing machine went for over £60 so I'm quite disapointed. I'd love the on you recommended Kandi especially as I know where to go for help! I don't really want to spend that much or I will be in the doghouse if I don't use it as much as I think I will.
Went into our local sewing machine shop for their "friendly advice and great range" to be practically laughed out of the shop with my budget, told that it was a waste of money getting a second hand one or a lower price one and was told to ask DH for more money. I was so miffed that I headed straight to the garden centre for a pick me up splurge, bought rosemary, thyme and sage plants.
How rude of them! Nothing wrong with a second hand one, my mum's got a machine that she's had for years which is still going strong. Guess they wouldn't make money out of that though.
I would need to teach myself how to sew on a machine again, but I have been thinking about getting one. I don't know if these are any good but they are very sweet! http://www.johnlewis.com/230657780/Product.aspxDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Oh that's so cute!
I really need to go home now. So sleepy.0 -
I was thinking of getting a small and very cheap sewing machine just for odd jobs. We have my grandma's old one and it's still really good. However the pedal got lost during the house move and hasn't been seen since.
I wish people would bid on my ebay things instead of just watching them! 4 hours left and things either aren't going up or are going up by 30p.0 -
Red Sqirrel, I like that one too but I suspect it's not up to much. Honesty all I want it for is sewing light cotton dresses, some wendy house curtains and some hems on Dh work trousers, maybe some cotton cushion covers. How good does a machine really need to be to cope with that anyway?0

Vicki - ignore the rude shop people! A sewing machine from Argos will do the job you need, mine has done curtains, cushions, clothes, bags, I have sewn leather with it and I use it almost daily, it has taken some hammer from me these last few months and it still going strong!
Sounds like they were after a quick profit.
If you need sewing advice I will be happy to help (however limited:o) but the sewing thread is great too, loads of really clever people on there. You can stand there and agonize........

Red velvet cake is super. One of my favourites too.
I also every Nigella Chocolate cake from the chocolate cake section in...Feast..I think. You wouldn't go wrong with any of them, but the chocolate honey one is truly outstanding.
I have a pretty ace vegan chocolate cake recipe too, found by happy accident when...trying to feed a vegan.0 -
I must say this is looking to be a strong contender http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/317254/Maltesers-chocolate-cake0
