Just caught up on the white/tanned/ summer/winter clothes chat.
I'm such a summer person, I honestly feel I'm coming out of hibernation (bit like goan's tortoise!) now the days are longer and the temperatures warmer. The sunshine on holiday did me such a world of good, I'm feeling so energised and positive compared to the heavy sluggishness of the winter months. I hate winter layers and feel liberated in my flip flops, feet free of socks and tights.
When I came back from hols, DD had done my washing and the black woolly dress, long cardi and opaques that I have literally lived in to conceal the extra lbs this winter were in a neat pile on the bed. They symbolised so much I was fed up with about the winter, that I actually took the neat pile and put it in straight in the wheelie bin! Honestly!!
I'm careful with the skin on my face, but I tan quite easily and I feel great now with a bit of colour. I really need to make a plan for next winter....a mid-winter holiday in the sun and a SAD lamp for in-between times!!0 -
Just got in from work and catching up. There were a lot of drag queens out tonight all looking fantastic. I love mondays.
I quite like spring/autumn for clothes. I don't like getting too much flesh out in summer (unless i'm on holiday!) and get so sick of being so wrapped up in winter. Plus I always seem to really feel the cold.
I also feel I look so much better with a tan. I tan really easily too and just think it suits me better. I've just started fake tanning for nights out now and as they're few and far between atm it isn't too bad! Can't wait to have a 'healthy glow'.
Also hate ironing. I either do none or do it for hours. I'm lucky in the fact my mum sometimes wakes at 5am, irons everything in sight for a couple of hours then goes back to sleep!
Just about to watch Snog, Marry, Avoid and the off to sleep. Night all xx0 -
I can't be bothered with trying to be brown anymore. Like Ice, however careful I am it always looks tacky. I think black can look really striking on pale skin but you have to be comfortable with your whiteness.
I love soft duck eggs and teals, soft muted greens would also look amazing. Oh and navy too.
Likewise, I've never really bothered with trying to be brown though, I accepted as a kid that'd I'd never have the same golden skin that the rest of my family have...I am the only one who takes after my Dad's Mum and is white as a ghost...
downside right now is that I'm paler than ever and look grey in some light
Um,
morning all0 -
Like bronnie I tan quite easily, and it suits my colouring, but I try very hard not to. As a child I lived in hot and unny places, and spent my life scampering and swimming about with no sun protection and wearing nothing more than a pair of bikini bottoms. Now, at 31 my arms are covered with freckles, that are cute now, but I've sen my future and its ....age spots. My mother also spent a lot of time in the sun, and while she looks excellent for her age her age spots have been significant, she's had various peels and lazer for them, but ....I'd rather keep them to a minimum to start with.
Some times I fine not tanning hard: I like the look of a natural tan and knowing the colour I go is nice, and flattering, and also that the cats and dogs would be over joyed if for example, I took my nap time outside on the grass, they would descend on me with enthusiasm for a bit of sunbathing. with perfect timing this weekend, D told me he'd looked up one of his first crushes on face book last week. He ad described her to be as young loking, sweet looking, innocent looking....and now, he said, you would believe she was 15 years or so older than sxhe is. She is a sun worshipper in a truly Italian style, where its beautiful when you are 15-25 ish, but at 30 this girl has turned early into a walking mock-crok handbag.0 -
hi ladies im kinda new to the forum and was looking for somewhere i could post my clothes bargain/gripe so im thinking you wouldnt mind if I post here.
I went out shopping yesterday for white work blouses for my new job, didnt want to pay much money as I will only be wearing them until my uniform is ordered.
Trailed around a few shops, no luck, went in mountain ware house of all places and found exactly what I was looking for, and best of all it was a size 14!!! and it fit perfect! (I am normally a 16/18). It was £14.99 in the sale tho and I really didnt want to pay that much so I grudgingly put it back and went to asda. Found what I was looking for there for £3 in the sale!! Magic, I thought. Until I went in to the changing room...and the 18 was too tight I could barely breath..so was the 20!! I ended up buying a 22 which was a perfect fit...It was a super bargain but I am sooo frustrated with the sizing ive never worn a 20 in my life, let alone a 22!!
Anyway girls, cheap work shirts in asda but at a cost - your self esteem!!

Linda- just goes to show the madness eh? It amazes me just how much sizes can vary from shop to shop.
*screams*
I've been up and about since half 4, how is that fair? Lol, c'est la vie, I can nap later I guess.
Seeing as Tesco was a total let down on the "Laura food" front last night, we're popping to Morrisons before the dentist...
Mum out at another appointment this afternoon and I think I shall maybe make the rocky road I didn't do last week,
was meant to be seeing my CPN but I cancelledthough did have a phone appt with her yesterday instead. I'm feeling a little crowded with all the checking up on me that is being done lately.

Oh yes, make the rocky road.
In fact, chip in with some advice for me.On saturday i need t provide an after noon tea and a supper...high tea in my family really is a meal, and is very rarely eaten on a day with a main supper, but it seems mean to serve a pot of tea and a plate of biscuits. The full ''hig tea'' woud be a range of sanwiches or savouries, an uncut cake, plus a cut cake : ike a tray bake, as the very, very, minimum. More likely we'd serve three times that variety...and then scones or crumpets.....
I'm thinking of doing the unthinkable and serving just tea/coffee and brownies, biscuits...possible shortbread, and a simple cake. No savoury, let alone choice of savoury
.....acceptable or not in modern entertaining?0
