If you don't mind the drive to Derbyshire, we always go to this rather cute little festival http://www.indietracks.co.uk/
Only £55 for the weekend, there's a lovely campsite nearby with hot showers, kitchenette, laundry and jacuzzi. Last year there were free craft workshops run by Tatty Devine and Eithne Farry plus there's lots of Indie bands, free rides on steam trains, real ale, quality food and vintage clothes for sale.
We love it!
ohhhhhh should NOT have looked at that!**"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."**0 -
I'm a bit of a grouch when it comes to festivals. A large local festival's impact on anyone using local rail and roads and amenities, oh yes, and ears...can be a bit ..grouch making. The animals hate it. And we're miles and miles away!0

I do loathe V weekend. Town and Tesco are heaving, the roads are awful too.0 -
Lost, I must admit to being a total festival nut and I love the Big Chill's ethos of "Leave no Trace" and forbidding non-organic shower gels, shampoos and washing up liquid. There's always the odd idiot but the majority of Big Chillers are nice green Guardian readers like J and me!!
The IndieTracks festival is tiny and unlike those awful corporate-sponsored beasts has a friendly atmosphere and isn't packed to the rafters with teenage lager louts away from home for the first time.0 -
oh i'm being told to get tickets for V, but i'm not sure i fancy it..the music would be good, but im not sure i really fancy a festival :S0

I used to love the Ashton Court festival in Bristol, it was free, but you gave a donation, small, friendly and green. Don't know if it's still running or the same now though.0

Oh, I'm glad they exist and glad people enjoy them. I didn't ever really enjoy them that much, but like the idea. Its just...they aren't pain free, and I feel like such a kill joy now!0 -
