LadyB, you are very naughty indeed. I love the stripey kimono dress on the People Tree website, but all my funds are earmarked. Stop leading me into temptation.
I also LOVE these mad shoes, precisely because they are crazy impractical. They only run to a UK6, thankfully. I don't think I could have resisted them."All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -
I know, I am very sorry for leading you all into temptation with me but it makes me feel less guilty so mwah ha ha ha!
Rainbow, I agree that PT is rather expensive but there are always a few gems on there and sometimes I can't help myself (hence being on mse to sort my spending out, oops!)... we will just have to llive on beans and porridge for all of March! I do try and wait for the sales but some things go like hotcakes and never get reduced, I suppose I must learn to wait and que sera sera.
Magpye, those shoes are A-mazing, am fighting to keep myself from reaching for my purse!2012 is going to be my year - bring it on!:j0 -
Hey everyone!
I've been naughty today :rotfl: bought 2 pairs of shoes and a top - top is going back though, have found something I like better!!!
I'm not a great one for shoes but oh my god I saw them and fell in love! I bought them in QS and they were only 6 quid per pair - both are fabric Mary Janes, one is cord material with flowers and the other are black broiderie anglaise pattern - I was surprised that they fitted me, normally cheaper shoes dont as I have wide feet, but they are so comfy - they have loads of really nice shoes in really cheap - very MSE!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Wow, I love it! I could never spend that much though. Maybe if I bought less but spent more on one thing...hmmm?
This is th best solution IMO.
its mse to spend well, not always cheaply.
It is better for our economy to buy in a way that emplys close to home, preferably UK, but if not then...close to home. It keeps ur economy stronger, which allows us to buy stuff....
Its better to spend on quality.
Many smaller retailers provide competition in the longterm this is MSE.
It is only MSE to buy cheap/or expensive with in our own affordability. Live on beans if need be save it THEN spend it.0 -

What wise words. I saw Vivienne Westwood on Jonathon Ross a while ago saying similar, and I do try not to buy the whole of Primark now!
Not that I've managed to save up for a lovely piece, I am yet to find my "style" so I'm worried I'd get bored or not love the dress/shoes etc for long.
Also, I already live on porridge and beansvery nice they are too.

LIR, I bow to your wisdom, I just need you to follow me everywhere and keep reminding me please! I am definitely more aware of where I spend my cash these days, try to buy quality rather than quantity and consider where things have come from (hence my love for People Tree!). However, I also know how satisfying it can feel to come home with bulging bags after a trip into town, especially if I'm feeling down. I need to remind myself that the cheap and cheerful stuff makes me happy for a while but doesn't always last or wash well and usually ends up being thrown out within a year after few wears. Trouble is, I'm so easily distracted by pretty things and I forget all this rather easily!2012 is going to be my year - bring it on!:j0

I loved that interview, she was awesome! I must admit I haven't had a Primark spree since then.

I know what you mean I used to be exactly the same! I think I've found my look in the last few years so feel more confident about buying quality pieces that I'll wear over and over again.

well, i can't be too wise, I did my my tesco tights...but I do hate that place, and feel very strongly that we HAVE to support alternatives to imports as our only shopping. If it means fewer things...well....tough.0

I'm trying to buy more quality clothes now too. I think i've found my style and i'm not just buying cheap things for the sake anymore.
Ooh ooh oooh, I think I really like my new skirt! I wasn't too sure at first but I think it could be very versatile. I shall photograph tomorrow.
Shoes I was looking at on ebay went for double what I was prepared to pay, why does this always happen to me?!0 -
Mrs Ryan, those shoes sound great. Shame our QS has shut down - although better for my purse of course!
LIR - only Mary Poppins can be practically perfect, the rest of us must simply do what we can! I agree with everything you said above, it's time to fight back against the fat cats, I resent every penny I spend at Tesco et al. especially when local, independent shops are struggling so much.2012 is going to be my year - bring it on!:j0
