I cant speak for others but mine isnt just for the wedding but it gave me a real incentive and kick start. Whys that? :)

Its good theres motivation to start as long as its a long term thing not short term. I know this girl who lost loads for her wedding and after it just ate the face of herself and let herself go on purpose. Just didnt see the point of it just for a slim photo in her case
  • Ah I see! Yes I can see why people do it but thats completely the wrong reason as like you say they yo-o back again!. Before I joined SW id already lost about a stone dieting at home but I know that for me to lose it I need some 'direction'. SW is very easy for me to follow, fits into my life without too much adaption. For me its about losing weight to be more healthy, 3 years ago my mum had a stroke aged 48 (although they didnt give a reason for it except bad luck) being overweight myself it could be a trigger. My dad was also recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, makes being heatlthy more of a priority for me! These things coupled with a wedding gave me the drive and push I need but long after the wedding I intend on losing weight/staying at target

I've been reading this thread to try and motivate myself to do something about my ever increasing weight despite starting a new diet almost every week.
I did attend Slimming World once for about 6 weeks and lost 7lbs doing the extra easy plan.
Do you all attend the meeting or do it online.
Do you think SW is better than WW?

I want to lose about 2 stone ideally.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Many thanks
  • Thanks Bluespirit x

Salsa - IMO its better than WW as there are so many things for me on EE that are available to eat as free foods rather than counting points. It also fits in better with my life.

I attend classes, I know that if I didnt have to face someone each week it would be easier for me to 'go off the rails'. I know some people who tried the online one and it worked but it depends what sort of person you are willpower wise! x

I do SW online as I can't get to any of the classes easily. I'd prefer to have a class so that I have to face up to it every week, but the online version does work when I have my motivation up, and theres a lot of information that you get access to on the site.

I personally wouldn't go back to WW now I've tried SW. On WW I used to feel really hungry a lot because I had so few points, and I would also eat less healthily as on WW would feel that points on fruit were wasted, as I would prefer to go hungry for a while and eat some chocolate or crisps. On SW, because all fruit etc. is free I eat loads of it now, and don't feel the same need for the junk food. It's just so easy to cook meals on SW that OH will happily eat too (he can't believe some of the 'diet' food I make him) and I never feel hungry as there's always something free around to fill me up.

Good luck with whatever you decide Salsa x

Hi all - I have had a quick squint through this thread. I have just lost 4st since April on Lipotrim (total food replacement, and so a bit severe, but it's worked!). However, I want to get off another 4 stone - but want to eat this time! I am fancying slimming world due to the unlimited proteins on the red. Do they stillk do red and green or has it been replaced by the Extra-Easy? What are people's experience of the EE?

    Thanks in advance. Inkie

You may find it difficult to lose weight initially with SW as you will have messed up your metabolism with Lipotrim.

Your body will have got used to doing without food and so any food you do eat (at the beginning anyway) will make you gain weight. If you stick with it though, you will eventually begin to lose again as your body gets used to a regular diet.

SW is a very healthy way to lose weight and keep it off for ever, meal replacements are ok short term but do more harm than good in the long term since I can't imagine anyone would want to live on them for ever!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
