Hi London Diva are you on your own or with kids?? There are loadsa places to eat out in Guildford if you start at the very top of the high st and work yr way down there must be 30+ including all your fast foods (ie 2 McD's, Burger King, Pizza Hut etc etc). Depends what you like really. We quite like Loch Fyne which is on Chapel Street lots of fish but some non fish (one of my kids has sausages only there!) good for family and for just adults and we usually go for the £10 for 2 courses menu if you eat before 7pm (I think) they have a website as it is a chain so might be useful. Guildford does have lots of nice and expensive shops but I go to Woking when I want a bargain as they have cheaper shops and a pond store!! There are a few theatres in Woking there is the New Victoria theatre, in Guildford there is the Electric theatre and the Yvonne Arnaud theatres so you might find somrthing there. If you are a national trust member there are several lovely properties to explore including Dapdune Wharf on the river Wey, Polesdon Lacey, Hatchlands Park, Witley Common, Winkworth Arboretum etc etc. There is a good Tourist Information in Guildford and we have used them to find a B & B once nr us for family to use. If you like churches you could probably look round Guildford Cathedral (not been there myself!) there are lots of free things like walks up on the Downs and along the River Wey if the weather permits! Hope this helps will probably think of loads of things as soonas I log off here! We moved here from London a few years ago and it's great (miss a near by John Lewis tho!). Have a good weekend and please ask more questions (I don't often look on this thread but was going to post something!)

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I may now have too much to fit in! :D

    The plan so far is:

Get to Guildford about 3ish on Friday, check in and explore the town before heading to dinner.

Saturday will be an explore Woking day (bus or train?) - so Woking town centre & any suggested sights in the morning, before heading off to the match at 3. Afterwards a wander and dinner before heading back.

Sunday is Guildford, possibly the cathedral and I'm going to see what times the free city guided tours are and then head to Wisely on our way back into London.
