Follow the following step to get the wireless part working (after you've got the wired setup working properly that it).
You need to do the following while you still connected via cable to the router.
1) Open up Internet Explorer
2) At the address line, use the following URL: http://192.168.1.1
3) When prompted for username & password, leave the username as is, enter 'admin' (without quotes) for the password. This will bring you to a web setup page.
4) Click on the Wireless tab
5) Wireless Network Mode = Mixed, Wireless SSID = <Anything you like to distinguish between many wireless SSID you might see in your area>, Wireless Channel = 11 (Default, change to lower channel if your wireless notebook couldn't see your SSID), Wireless SSID Broadcast = Enable.
6) Save setting
7) Click on Wireless Security
8) Security mode = WPA Personal (If your two notebooks running on Win XP), WPA Algorithm = TKIP, WPA Shared Key = <give a very long password, this need to be the same as WPA key on the notebook)
9) Save setting
Now, go to your wireless notebook, scan for available wireless network, you should be able to see your SSID. Right click and choose connect, and it should ask for a key .. put the same long WPA key as per the one you set on step 8 above. If everything setup properly, you should be able to browse from the wireless notebook.
Disconnect the cable from your notebook to the router, do as above. If all are well, you'll have the two notebooks connected to the net wirelessly.

can she use the wireless set up wizard?
she has an huge assignment to hand in on 28th july and needs the internet for it so shes worrying in case she will get into a mess as shes been trying to do this since last night so its been one whole day and the only day off shes had from her nursing placement so shes worried about losing study time.
now shes on the net she can look at this and get it sorted. when her friend comes back in a few days she can just see if it picks the signal up without her disconnecting hers first
will turning the wall plug switch off will it stop people from using the wireless?Thanx

I'll suggest her not to touch anything for now since everything seems to be working fine now. Come back again if her friend couldn't pick up any signal from the router.0
