There is a link to an ntl help page at the bottom of this thread, sometimes you have to register the mac address of the router with the isp.

really struggling for help on this if anyone can adviseThanx

Does a direct connection with the cable modem still work.
Does a direct connection PC - Router - Cable modem work.
The wireless issue is an extra point of possible failure, I'd try getting it working wired first.
You probably need to do an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew each time you pull the leads out to test.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
her friend is picking up linksys on her laptop now but they arent on the net does this mean its gone through? shes at the part where its asking her something to do with a name for the router in the wireless set up. she darent close down or reboot or anythingThanx

i think you have the wrong router... but im not sure, my borhter had cable(with blueyonder) and he just needed to plug it in and he was away, the ppoe stuff is for an ADSL connection which works via a BT socket and microfilter and a separete modem. for ym linksys router which connects to an ethernet modem(possible like yours) i have the following settings
Auto config DHCP
name:anything mine is called PiercesRouter
Host Name: "blank"
Domain"blank
MTU:auto
Local IP 192.168.1.1
DHCP Enabled
starting at 192.168.0.100
lease 0
all other settings blank or not required.
as for turning it off do not worry, if it all messes up the router has a rest button at the back which can reset EVERYTHING if you hold it for 30 seconds.0 -
shes checked and its a dsl wireless cable router so it should be right. this is a nightmareThanx
