wow thats fab. We spent a fortune buying ours but they should be easy to make. Ours was on a thick piece of carboard covered in foil ( i opened it to look ) lol . Then had lots of flump type sweets and foam mushrooms and jelly sweets plus candy strip type ones round the edge.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Sorry for the long post, but I've only just found this thread - wonderful!!!money_saving_diva wrote: »Hi I have made a pinata cakes before (see one below) They got great comments and everyone loved it!
That's brilliant - definitely want to make one for DD 4th brithdayDid you use a bowl or balloon to make the dome?

This is the only way I found it would come out. I didn't try a plastic bowl. it might work because you could squeeze the bowl to try and get choc out but it might crack easier??
You say you used chocolate for yours - was it just regular cooking choc or did you use the candy melts? Seen a few threads rating both... not sure which to go for....??Here it is!
That looks greatI love the percy pigs/farmyard sweeties in it!!!

I've been thinking about making a candy cake for ages now. My father's birthday is next month and I'm considering something like this
http://yourhomebasedparties.com/how-to-make-a-candy-cake-520
I think it could be done with lots of fun sized bars so would probably keep longer and I like the idea of wrapping it up in cellophane like a hamper.
I made a few Christmas hampers and snowman soup etc and wrapped up in cellophane with big bows etc and they went down a storm. The ideas from this forum never cease to amaze me - my friends think I'm so creative - if only they knew:D0 -
Does anyone have any idea how to keep the long marshmallows in place without using skewers?i was thinking of maybe melting white choc and putting that on the cake board then sticking the marshmallows to it and leaving to set.any ideas0
