can see why u would be cautious with the kids as the cocktail sticks did get stuck into the marshmallow.
just a thought could u use icicng like glue and stick them in a circle? might be worth a try,
That sounds good, I might give that a go!
There will be a mixed number of ages at the party, mostly under 4's tho and dont want any accidents if I can prevent them. I will give it a try with the icing if not I might go to a cake shop and see if there is any sort of edible glue I could use!?
Thanks shykins!0 -
I use a stainless steel salad bowl when making the chocolate shell for pinata cakes I also use oil and put it in the freezer before and after.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Ive tried to make my own before, all come out okay, but this time for my sons birthday I used www.cupcakeboutiqueco.co.uk A friend recommended them and they were fab. Had an excellent cake delivered to me! Would def recommend them, seem cheaper than most places too.0

Just trying to resurrect this thread. The 'cakes' you have all made are absolutely fabulous!
It's my sons 18th birthday in a couple of weeks and I'd love to make him one of these. Has anyone got any step by step instructions or tips that they can share?0 -
glad u reminded me.. ds wants me to make him one after the success of the one i made hub in March
any tips are as i explained in an earlier post. i use polystyrene as a base then just toothpick (cut in 2 or 3) the sweets to that til it looks nice. i tended to use flumps for the upright parts of the cake so i could make 2 tiers. the middle i filled with midget gems then did another tier of flumps and edged with other sweets etc.
no idea how to show u a photo of it but it was fairly easy to make, in fact the worrying took more time than the cake in the end lolWhen you know better you do better0 -
Thought i would bump this up as i have made a couple but am making one for someone else this weekend and mine are usually a little wobbly. Im going to try the polystyrene idea but any other help would be great.
This is one of my cakes!!!!I have 2 gorgeous kids0
