Washing Powder or liquid and sensitive skin

Ok, just been reading the Aldi washing powder thread and wanted to ask some questions:
Does anyone with sensitive skin use any non branded NON-BIO powder?
I have eczema and am allergic to:
Bold (anything),
Lenor,
Ariel Bio (but not the non-bio).
Really want to try another washing powder other than Ariel and Persil non-bio's but worried about itching all day - so any suggestions and experiences would be welcomedworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi newlyed
My DH and I have had problems with numerous washing powders. We used to be OK with Bold 2 in 1, but then they must have changed the recipe, as the eczma flared up again.
We tried several "sensitive" powders, which was a bit of a nightmare as we had to wash everything so we could be sure we'd got rid of the previous one IYSWIM.
In the end we found that Surcare worked for us, and that's what we use all the time now.0 -
Thanks for the comments. Does Surcare work out cheaper than Ariel/Persil?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

You could try soapnuts rather than washing powder.:wave:0

Hi, I struggle with bio powders, used to bring up my eczema a treat, mainly a reaction with the chlorine when i went swimming..... Mum always used persil or fairy non bio for me when i was younger, now on my own (and a cheapskate, or rather mse!) i use sainsburys non bio tablets and asda non bio tablets (dependant on where i shop) with no problems and i do more swimming now than i ever did before. I do notice however if i wear a friends item of clothing which has been washed in bio, the itching starts.......

My eczema on my hands can be particularly bad but I have to say I have never had any probs with Aldi non-bio (their bio washing tablets are another matter, ouch:eek: ) and have even hand washed with them. Same with Asda or Sainsbury's own.Books - the original virtual reality.

I jave eczema.. as do 3 of my children.. and another 2 have psoriasis which is aggravated by certain wash powders.
Daz is a no
Ariel (any/either/or) is a no chance
Persil.. would be a no if I wasn't trying to stop myself and daughters riping off our skin!
Bold.. OMG.. bathe me in ACID!!!
Fairy.. ok for all of us but 1
Aldi.. makes me itch just reading the box!
Tesco value wash powder is the ONLY one we can all use.. not itch, not flare up even in 'sensitive' areas.. it has practically no perfume, hardly any brighteners and does a decent enoguh job.. thankfully we are the Addams family so most stuff is black anyway but the white school shirts (bar one) are still white on child number 3!!
We can only use the lilac and the pink comfort and the yellow lenor as well!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks everyone for the comments. May have a look a Supermarket own brand non-bio then and see if it's much cheaper
Have managed to get OH into vinegar for cleaning and soda crystals added to the towel wash but not sure he'd be too convinced with soapnuts (haven't noticed them in the supermarket either to be honest). He does most of the washing (apart from hand washing)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi Newlywed,
I haven't tried soapnuts myself but my friend says they do a wonderful job, especially her whites.
You can't buy them at the supermarket as far as I know, but Lakeland sell them and you can buy them off the internet. I believe you put a few (5?) in a bag with the washing and you can reuse them several times too. Sounds very MS to me!
My OH suffers from two different types of eczema!
We both seem to be ok with Daz (big box) powder and Fairy washing liquid. Purple lenor too. I daren't try anything new in case it upsets his skin. I was using these types of washing stuff long before he developed his trouble.:wave:0 -
DD has eczema and we always use Tesco Non-bio-the one in a blue box. Most other non-bios make her eczema flare up-Persil seems to be the worst.0
