I'm so glad I found this thread I have looked at the weekly flyday bit and always wondered what it meant so the other day I had a look and how glad am I that I did.
Instead of being bored having to do housework and feeling glum that on my day off in the pouring rain I have to clean instead its good having some direction as to what to clean on what day. I'm just about to tackle the computer room(spare bedroom) and its very untidy bookcase and because it was on the list I'll do it too whereas for weeks I've kept looking at it wishing it was tidy!
Whilst getting my cleaning stuff out of kitchen cupboard I found a kettle descaler so whilst that was working I sorted said cupboard out ,washed all toothbrush holder, toilet brush, pedal bin etc ready for my next room which is the bathroom.
I'm not very good with the technical stuff yet though so don't have a clue about defragmenting, copy and pasting adding christmas tree etc but I'll get there.
Thanks for letting me join in x

Welcome to the thread - here's your Christmas tree!

  • Triker and I are having a declutter next week (and Piggers may play too!)

I thought we could work along the lines of wedding anniversaries for no real reason but to make it more focused so:

    1st Paper
Monday anything to do with paperwork/photos/boxes of cards/kids pictures/books etc

    2nd Cotton
Tuesday Clothes - anybodies for charity or ebays but not creating piles!

    3rd Leather
Wednesday Handbag sorting/putting away/getting rid of or sorting bags of clothes stuffed under your bed/including camping stuff/sleeping bags/sporting equipment/shoes/boots

    4th Linen
Thursday Linen cupboards/towels give them a good sort. Do not keep stuff just in case. Vets often want old towels

    5th Wood
Friday - can include toys/sorting sheds/tidying your woodstore (greenbee)/DIY jobs

    6th Iron
Saturday - cleaning out the car/refilling washer bottles/sorting our your heavy metal records/sorting our your baking tins/cast iron pans

7th Day of rest! Almost lets pamper
Sunday - sort out your toiletries and enjoy a bath decluttering all those bath bombs/face packs/trail samples/candle lit of course

Anyone fancy joining and shall we have a separate one off thread?

    Brilliant idea!:T
A separate thread might be a good idea so we dont swamp this one.

I wont be able to do all the days as working on two of them (London on Monday and Birmingham on Thursday), but will do my best nevertheless.

    Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

[STRIKE]paperwork, including invoices[/STRIKE] - still have two invoices to do, but need a couple of receipts which are curently unavailable (in OH's wallet ), so will do those later.
sort car insurance, or wont be able to go anywhere - had a reprieve - when I found the renewal notice on the desk, discovered dont have to renew till middle of March (thought it was the end of Feb)
order train tickets online for Monday's trip to London - need to wait for client to confirm times before booking train
WM about three times (not done any all week; good thing it's only me and DH)
kitchen - currently full of dirty dishes
declutter the top of the sewing machine so that I can....
    finish curtains for living room
cl[STRIKE]ear my desk - cant find anything on it at present and the keyboard is almost buried too (hence any spelling mistakes!)[/STRIKE] - this took me two hours:eek:, but I can now report having a clear and clutter free desk (wonder how long that will last??)

So time for a coffee, then clear the sewing machine next, I think.

Diluvsdiscounts - I totally agree with you; this thread has got me focused. Before, I just looked at stuff like you mention, wishing it was tidy, and using the fact my work schedule is erratic to excuse myself from actually doing anything. Now I can get all sorts done, even between appointments. It really does help to have the lists to follow so I know what to do in quiet moments or days off.

Dusty - please count me in. I love the list idea too.

How about a prize for the most black bags out?

Lots of photos for evidence - which would mean another thread! It worked well for the original half term challenge. Penelope Penguin - would we get merged into the existing great declutter thread?
