Should I be looking at a 250GB for around £40?
I have my recommendations here, along with other people's suggestions

   .
  • My current back routine consists of a manual backup to an external drive (500gb so plenty of storage) and an online back.

I'm currently using Humyo. There is a free accounr (think abour 30Gb) but there are larger accounts with more features. I currently synchronise files across 2 machines (so if one dies the other is already up to date) as well as online. I can access the online files anywhere & it links to Zoho office for editing without download on a public pc. Once the first backup is done, the others are fast as only new or the changed parts of edited files are uploaded.

I have 25GB media + 5GB data with mine which was a conversion from 123-Drive which they've stopped now but the front page is talking about 10GB on free accounts.

So long as you only regard these sort of accounts as a belt and braces offsite backup of a backup they are fine but I certainly wouldn't rely on one as my only backup.

1, Good idea re drive, except I am thinking of renewing my old PC this year. I am unsure how to 'image' data to new drive though.
    .

The software to do it is here:

What is wrong with simply burning to disc -dvd-r ??? This is Mse website.
If you do fancy a 1 TB hdd , well , you may as well get a 2TB one. Just remember how you ever lived with only 80GB!!!

80GB:) When I see new PC's with large HD's, I do wonder how I managed with only 80GB. Just think, when I take off my Pictures and docs' there will be very little on there.
As for 2T HD, it would take me 10 years to fill it and by then we will be storing data on HD's the size of pencils:)

" by then we will be storing data on HD's the size of pencils" - I think that when I see how small a microSD card is , and then look at the size of a vhs video!!!

If he's been taking his more recent ones in HD, then that 'lot of pictures' quickly becomes a lot less pictures! :)

Depends what pictures means photo's or video, HD usually means video

    80GB is about 60,000 6MP jpegs.
