You could always buy a Blu-Ray burner and get some 50gig discs and copy to them. That is what i do.:D

Is that an internal or external burner? I bet the cost of the discs are high.

Thanks to everyone for the great information! I really needed to get this sorted.

Can you really rely on a "Third Party" (A-Drive or similar) to keep you precious Pics safe?.
Web Sites come and go especially those offering a "Free" service. I wouldnt rely on these alone, personally.

QNAP or Netgear get good reviews.

One thing to worry about here Norman is how long it will take to upload your 34 GBytes of data to a remote site, what is your broadband speed like if you are in the still minority of circa 3.6 Mbits/sec I can see it might take you a couple of seconds or two to do it :D

There are a number of potential problems which need considering with online backup storage.

With any other than the really big names they could shut down at any time. Sod's law say this will happen just as your hard drive goes wrong.

Have you considered just how long it will take to upload 30GB+ of photos? Many adsl products only upload at ~ 320kbps which is over 7hrs per GB

Does your broadband have a usage cap and is upload included? Lots of the cheap deals cap at ~ 10GBamonth.

Backup to DVD-R is going to be the quickest, cheapest an simplest but even they can give read errors later and will take best part of an afternoon to produce.

Should I be looking at a 250GB for around £40?

Considering a 1TB drive can be had for about £65 - £40 seems high
