So who is going to be on the end of the Tory austerity package?

Public workers for sure - Pay freeze and reduced pension rights

As a pension fund trustee I'll stick my my neck on the line and say that both parties will likely move towards money purchase pensions in the public sector, probably for new entrants. Public sector pensions are not covered by the PPF levy (I'm guessing they know taxpayers will have to pay up anyway) and this is a huge elephant in the pensions room. We're being forced as private schemes to address funding issues and its time the government did the same.

Who loses? everyone who is not middle class or higher lol.

If I vote, it will be liberals, not that they will win.

Which party? Pick your poison really. All the same.

But winning could be holding the balance of power in a hung parliament.

    This is the problem Stevie.

    No one knows.
How can we realistically discuss something that has not happened and we do not know whether it will happen?

What we can discuss is what is happening now.

    .

So what you appear to be saying is we only discuss what Labour are doing or done and not what the opposition are likely/certain/proposing to do if elected, what is that about

Apart from some flowery language neither party has precisely produced detailed policies for the next few years so it is fairly hard to tell.

Probably because they both know how bad the bill for clown's blunders is going to be and "Vote for us and the country will eat stale bread and water until its on its feet again" isn't much of a rallying cry, even if it turns out to be what they both have to do.
It might be nice for both parties to believe there is a lot of fat than can be cut from public services without Joe Public knowing I am not so sure it will be that easy.

It never is that easy. Let's face it, a bunch of quangos closed down just means more people on the dole, does it not?

or just the same people being transferred to a different organisation and a new quango (e.g. the tories' plan for the FSA).

At the moment one party is definately lying. Labour.

Is that a joke? They're all as bad as each other, there is no point in voting for either of the main parties. As has already been said here, it's going to be hard for everyone over the next few years, even public sector workers, but you can bet that the main party MPs will keep their own nests feathered, keep all of their family employed in made-up jobs and keep all their friends in Quangos throughout!!!!!

The answer to MPs expenses? Set up yet ANOTHER Quango and pay everyone in it MORE than they recover from the lieing scumbag MPs.

Make no mistake - that kind of crap is NOT going to stop in the next administration.
  • I think this is an odd thread tbh.

Quite frankly we are screwed whoever gets in.

Looking at Labour's record over the last 13 years I wouldn't vote for them if I had a gun to my head.

I've been looking at the Conservatives for a good 18 months now and while I don't agree with every single policy they are the party which best reflect my views - they are also the only party that can overthrow Labour and for those reasons they will be getting my vote.

I cannot for the life of me see how the Conservatives can be any worse than Labour.

How anyone can be prepared to vote for a man who bullies junior members of staff like secretaries and call themselves socialists I don't know.

We now have the National Bullying Helpline accusing Mandelson and Brown of lying about Brown's bullying. They apparently have had a number of complaints from staff at No 10 in Brown's office over the last 18 months, some of which have been downloaded and one member of staff who called the helpline is off sick with stress. Headline news on the BBC as we speak...

Now we know the real reason for Tears for Piers last week.
  • Yep, I wonder of Dave at the next PMQ's will ask 6 straight questions on whether Brown is going to have a HR review of bullying and working conditions at No10. Then he can end with PM is in denial again.

Should be fun watching Brown squirm.

I hate Brown as the next person but I wouldn't trust the media either.

Just the media spinning anything they can. Anything for news these days.
