DFS Sale ends Sunday !!!

I visited their local store recently with the oh & after a browse & chat with the salesman he left us with "Don't forget the sale ends soon"

Yes I thought everyone knows you permanently have a sale - OK to legally comply they may change their ranges etc but does anyone take their sale seriously...

I went away thinking what does this tell me about this company a bit Arthur Daleyish maybe & who would want to be one of his customers ?

That leaves you monday to buy a Dreams bed,as that sale ends monday 8pm.;)
  • And the new sale starts on Monday at 8.00 am.....
I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 2010
  • LOL, none of the furniture store sales actually end.

And their "reduced to" £399 settees were never ever £999 either
  • Seriously though isn't it about time these phoney sales were outlawed if it means a change in the law it must be overdue - anyone interested in joining my petition ?

  • DFS only stands for one thing....DUFF FURNITURE SALES...buyer beware!! Bought a three piece leather suite a few years back costing almost £1,200..lasted 3 months then one of the settee arms broke. I was accused of jumping on it....I was 8 months pregnant at the time! Manager didn't want to know...took 15 months of phone calls, letters, trading standards and solicitors to finally sort it out. Shoddy workmanship, zero customer care.....NEVER again!

    I'll second that.

We bought our new sofa last january - we desperately needed one. Arrived 6 weeks later, lasted 2 days before the seams were RIPPING apart. We call the shop guy came out and hand sewed them back together.

Then the bottom fell out a week later, again called the shop - agagin they came out and fixed it.

We have had our sofe a year now and it looks about 30 years old, even though we have taken extremely good care out it, you know the usual, no jumping, eating, drinking, smoking etc on the sofa - SITTING ONLY. All the seams are split on every cushion the frame creeks too.

Cant afford another one so we are stuck with it.

I must be the luckiest DFS customer then as I really rate them.

I have two from my first home (currently sat on one of them so must be 10 years+ old), a corner sofa in my bedroom - was delivered with a mark on which the delivery guys spotted and re-ordered a hide (apparently the cow it came from must have been scarred) - it was fixed in no time really, and a Tetrad Heminingway one in the lounge.
I am planning buying another corner sofa one but only when I have finished the room it's going in - although I am watching all the constant sales to see when I see one I like on sale.

Sorry you've all had bad experiences.

It seems hit and miss, my mum bought her sofa 1 week after we ordered ours (i cant have nowt for myself) and hers is doing fine considering she doesnt take much care of it. I wish we had got one that would last a few years.

  • I think if you buy a well known make such as Tetrad through DFS you probably can't go far wrong. But there is that old addage......you get what you pay for.
