Hi All,
I'm looking to replace our old 26" boxy old tv with a new LCD HD Ready one. I cant afford to pay much but want to get the best I can for my money. I've found this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5295298.htm
and would really appreciate any advice you can give. I dont know much about HDMI, scarts etc etc. The only things being plugged into it are a sky box and a DVD player, (prehaps a WII later in the year if we manage to save enough).
Huge thanks for any help,
Allison x

Me again! I've been searching onlone and come across this one http://www.debenhamselectricals.com/DE_Toshiba_TVs___LCD_20010606/version.asp?PID=20000539 which has a 18000:1 contrast compared to the 12000:1 that the argos one had. Is this a lot better as its only £30 more expensive.
Thanks again,

That is a better TV, but don't base your choice on what the makers tell you is the contrast ratio, they are not real figures.0

Thanks for your reply, what makes the 2nd one the better choice? I dont know which bits to compare?

Toshiba is generally speaking a better brand than Bush.
Bush is at the lower end of the market.0 -
You really dont want a BUSH tv.
Id probably buy this Samsung if it was me ~

Another vote for Rik's Samsung. It's the same price as the Bush and a much better set than the Toshiba. You can get it with a 5 year warranty for the price of the Tosh and Richer Sounds are a very reputable dealer. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

The best TV in the world is the one you like to look at, honest, all the research in the world will not ' please your own eye '
I'm a Samsung man, although their power boards are rubbish, so when you've finished asking - start looking.
GoTo Curry's or wherever and look down the line of brands, spend some time, and decide which

You'll be amazed at he difference between them when they are side by side, it's not always the top price Sony's that look best !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I'm also looking for a 32'' LCD for my boys room. I don't really want to spend over £300. I'm toying with the idea of an LG or a Samsung - any personal preferences on what's the best between the 2 makes?0

Worst advice on the thread. Not a single place I know of EVER actually has them set correctly, and theyre definitely never properly calibrated. So a tv with a potentially amazing looking picture could look cr*p, whilst a 'so so' tv could look (Unnaturaly) good next to it:idea:0
