Avg9 ?

I have AVG version 8.5.435 installed, I am now getting a pop up from AVG suggesting I upgrade to version 9.0

Is this OK to do? No glitches, bugs etc

TIA.

Read the AVG forums. When v9.0 first came out there seemed to be lots of problems with it so I ditched it, as it's not as good as it was, and installed Avast instead.

Not being a techie, and wanting the easiest and something I am at ease with, (being a creature of habit), and the fact that there are millions of people with AVG,(even recommended on this site), I think I will stay with AVG unless the millions using it also come off it.

    Opinions welcome from others.

I asked on this forum if there where any problems with upgrading, (as I appreciate the advice), I had a quick look at the AVG forums, but there are that many comments and it appears that version9 has now been out for a while, so the probs may have been sorted out.

I heard "the gadget guy"? on radio LBC this morning comment on a Q about AVG,(can't remember the Q), and he said "there are millions using AVG", so it can't be that bad, otherwise millions would not be using it.

Question still stands, is it safe to upgrade? Or would you not recommend it's continuation and suggest another betetr one?

What does the "link scanner" actually do?

I used AVG 8.5 for ages, when 9 appeared with it's known problems I changed to Microsoft Essentials, I far prefer it.

    It is free.;)

When you google something or whatever it checks each site to see if its infected

problem is its not very good at detecting them so youd probably get infected anyways (On the plus side, its usually only very dodgy sites that are infected, although legit ones do sometimes get hacked)
