You do not get the flu going out for a walk in icy conditions
Argh, the arguments I have had over the years about the existence of "the chill" as a valid illness/infection/virus!
Aside from the fact that cold and flu viruses don't exactly thrive in subzero conditions.£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500
"3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600 :eek:0 -

And no doubt your boss will make the argument that you shouldnt go to such inaccessible places when your meant to be working and that if you choose to do so its your own tough luck and to ensure you have suitable ways to work.0

lol come on Anihilator, you and I know that you cannot live your life around work, if his GF lives there and didn't realise there would be snow (I for one didn't know it was going to snow last night) then as he has called and let them know and is aware that it is unpaid then nothing more should occurAlways ask ACAS0 -

The way I view it;
If you were due to fly on your holidays this morning, and the runway had been cleared of snow, would you have found a way to make it to the airport, or would you have given up on the holiday.
If you would have been forced to give up on the holiday, then you were right not to go in to work. I suspect (and not you personally - the snow looks real bad), that many who take a snow day, are actually just taking advantage, and were it a journey for a holiday, they would be able to some how get there...0 -
A taxi probably wou ld have turned up, they would have probably met you further down the lane. I know this as this is how my br other managed to make any wages in January. No taxis running no wages.

Snow is fine as long as you don't live where there are hills or open fields(drifts) and other that can't drive on snow.
I always remember a house mate from my early work years, ultra diligent, leaving the house one morning in a white out(looking out the windows) for a trip to work, the rest of us stayed in bed that morning(we all worked the same place).
An hour later he came back looking a bit unhappy, we went out in the afternoon to dig his car out of the 10 foot snow drift he drove into.
Important to communicate and do what you can to deliver, a work from home backup can be usefull where possible, if not show willling to try to come in..0
