I received a cheque for the TMF Nutrigrain bars today. Sent it off 18th March, received a cheque for £2.42 (inc. postage) 4th April. They were nice too (don't say anything tho.... ; ) )0
-
Forget the travel wallet, I really couldn't give a monkeys about that. I got my money back, almost a £100 and that's what I was worried about. *** The Nutri Grains were not TMF, they were a money back guarantee. I thought they were nice too, and though I claimed my money back which was really naughty of me, I have decided to stay well clear from future money back guarantee offers. Not keen on lying.0

Welcome and thanks for the post. Can I just for your future benefit on all internet forums point out that posting in capitals as you have done is considered rude. It signifies that you are shouting. Sorry for being negative about a first post but thought it better you know for future reference0

Received Daz Liquitabs MBG today; only sent it off last week, so well happy with that. Especially since I used a P&G coupon, so paid 30p for the Daz and a box of cereals!0

Have searched, but can't find this posted elsewhere on MSE:
Asda are offering to refund and replace any food product with the logo:
"TRY ME, LOVE ME" on it if you are not 100% happy.
Sounds like a TMF to me.
I found mine on a 1 litre bottle of Asda Good for You Belgian Chocolate Milkshake. Money refunded at CS, no quibble.
Details on www.asda.com click on customer services>in store services0 -
I think all Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury's own products have that on them. I think it is more of a money back guarantee than a TMF. *** Also, without sounding like a complete troll, why have 3 separate people put the Boots Energy pill offer on? Can't people read what's been put on in the last 2 to 3 pages of the post before they post?0

I agree about most supermarket own brand products having some sort of satisfaction guarantee on them, which is why I haven't included them in Post 2. Do you guys think it should be included? (I just don't want to give the impression that people should complain about every single Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys item to get their money back - I know most sensible people wouldn't, but don't want the newbies to get the wrong impression
)
As for duplicate postings of an offer, I don't mind and it would be unreasonable to expect people to read several pages of the thread (I know I don't always have the time). Although I do try to keep Post 2 updated so everything should be there.0 -

99% of all products out there probably have some kind of "If you are not entirely satisfied with this product..." blurb on the label somewhere, and my own personal opinion is that genuine quality guarantees like that shouldn't be abused.
It's important to remember though that the flashed 'Try Me Free' and 'Satisfaction Guarantee' offers that we concentrate on in this thread are NOT usually "genuine" guarantees in the true sense of the word. They're promotions, plain and simple. Hence the limited number of flashed packs made available, the redemption barriers like specially dated till receipts, or explanations in a certain number of words, or having to pay your own postage... even the "guilt" factor of making it seem like you're complaining! If it's a flashed pack, and probably run by one of the big handling houses too, then it's just another type of sales promotion. And a statement in 15 words or more is a bonus piece of market research for the company (if they even bother to read them!) - even if we all have to scratch our heads to come up with a negative occasionally, if 100 people come up with the same negative - however frivolous - then it's still useful for the company to know.
As I've flagged up a couple of times before, most of these promotions are run on a "fixed fee" basis by a handling house - so don't feel guilty about applying, because the original manufacturer will have paid the handling house a fixed sum at the very start of the promotion which will be the same whether 1 person claims a refund or 1,000. And it's a fairly safe bet, I think, that boards like this helping to up the response rates of these promotions is most definitely factored into those initial costings - the big companies have had years of experience after all!
My own "test" for these promotions is simple. If they're obviously publicising the offer, and drawing attention to it with fancy pack flashes and the like, then it's NOT a genuine guarantee - it's a sales promotion. Think about it... if you bought a pack of rancid meat from Sainsbury's and took it back, would you be asked to produce a till receipt dated within the last seven days... or write an explanation in more than 15 words... or provide them with an SAE so that they could refund your money... or expect to be told that no, you can't have your money back because it wasn't a "special" pack? Of course not!
So, while genuine, everyday satisfaction guarantees have no place on this thread in my own opinion - the limited "look at me" ones most certainly do. If you're still in any doubt, take a look at www.mando.co.uk - click on 'Case Study Search' and select all of the TMF / Taste Guarantee - type headers there, have a read of how scientific (and, dare I say, cynical!!) some of those promotions were deliberately planned to be... and never again feel guilty about playing them at their own game.
How about this one for Heineken...
The taste guarantee is the most cost effective of the trial mechanics, requiring the consumer to try the product and then explain why they did not enjoy it. Variants of the same theme may offer money back whatever the consumer’s thoughts of the product so can attract a higher response and more refunds. In this case study, Heineken wanted to highlight the taste advantage of their imported product and turned to Mando to secure the financial risk of the campaign.
Mando Brand Assurance advised on the structure of the mechanic to ensure the consumer would respond only if they could explain what they disliked about the taste of the product. As well as purchase receipt and the on pack flash, the consumer needed to state in no fewer than 15 words why they were not satisfied. Using its experience of similar promotions, mando was able to agree a Fixed Fee a fraction of the total liability for this offer.
Or Quorn...
Try Me Free can be a very enticing offer for the consumer encouraging trial and lifting sales. However, it can prove expensive when the product has a high purchase price and where the range and volume of products involved is substantial.
Mando consultants were asked to consider a fixed fee arrangement for a TMF across the entire Quorn range. Looking at pack volumes and retail prices, the costs would have been prohibitive without further conditions to entry.
Working with the brand’s agency, Mando introduced a number of barriers to entry to allow the campaign to run within the budget requirements. These barriers included five questions to be answered, including a statement of not less than 20 words.
The consumer also had just 14 days from date of purchase to claim their refund. This was a novel introduction to the TMF arena and enabled Mando to agree a one-off fixed payment well below the total financial liability of this promotion.
I'm sure you get the idea!!!0 -
