  • Yep nothing like a reliable Toyota... oh....

You can't make sweeping generalisations like that, all makes have flaws and issues.

Mind you never heard 18 trips to a dealer in 13 weeks- how did that poster accept it- even for a Fiat who are getting better that is poor, I wouldn't have got past 5.

I'm not keen on the Corsa- wouldn't have been my choice but hope the OP enjoys it.

The problems didn't start till after the first week, it was a brand new Punto and paid for in full, we fought and fought and fought to reject the car with the dealers and fiat !!! Some of the problems included, the Altenator, the lights, the window wipers, gear box exploded, headgasket went !!!! radiator and ecu.

Fiat eventually stepped in took the car back and handed us back our money, the dealer even lied to fiat about the car having any problems when they got envoloved, but well be had records of all work done so we had proof. Just because you want to reject the car doesn't mean they are going to let you easily.
  • I have a Corsa 1.3 Eco flex and I love it. It is really economical and easy to drive.

OK, slight spanner in the works. Visited the dealer (not sure if I'm allowed to post the name - so won't), and they have the 1.2 Energy SE for £7k, and the 1.3 Ecoflex Diesel for £800 more. Is it worth that additional outlay?

The tax will be £60per year cheaper for the 1.3 Diesel come April as well.

    Cheers guys/girls!

My tax on my 1.3 is £35 per year, but I do drive alot of miles so I have saved loads driving a diesel.

The diesel will be £800 nicer to drive than the 1.2 petrol :). It's power output is closer to that of the 1.4 petrol if I remember correctly and it was a joy to drive (I have driven two Corsa Ds before - a 1.0 petrol :rotfl:and a 1.3 CDTI). It'll have a bit more torque as well to aid with overtaking on the motorway and if that's where it's spending most of it's life than it's a sensible choice :)

Given your mileage it makes quote good economical sense too.

    Test drive both though.

i think if you are looking at a car to last you for a while then a used diesel may be the way forward, they can handle the 15000-20000 miles a year you would be doing better than a petrol could. the engines just last longer!

I was looking at that too, got a call from their online dept but not from the dealership yet. How's that going for you? did you actually manage to get a quote for £7000? do you already own the corsa? sorry to hi-jack your thread

The prices for the Corsas on the website include a £500 Vauxhall loyalty discount if you scrap a Vauxhall, so if you are scrapping any other car (like myself) you have to add £500 to the price shown. It also doesn't include reg fee (£55) and tax (whatever it is).

I left a deposit on Saturday, and supposed to be getting a call regarding collection on Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes once its all gone through.

they gave me a call today, they needed a decision from me by the end of the day which wasn't going to happen. the only thing that put me off was the fact i'd have to pay £500 for metallic paint.
