I read only today that they sniff you out and can smell perspiration. Also, they prefer those with group 'O' blood, which explains why they love me and leave my wife alone! Unfair or what?

I usually use repellent. It's useless using the blue lights - it doesn't work on them, but does keep moths etc away.

Thanks for your information; I have also heard this problem with mosquito’s searching out body odours, perhaps a shower B4 going to bed might help.

Could be your wife that's smelly and you're suffering for it.
Make sure she has a shower too!

Mosquitos track you by detecting carbon dioxide concentrations. It is possible to create a homemade trap from a 2-litre bottle, yeats and sugar water that will trap them if you don't want to fill your house with poisonous vapours.

Insect screens over the windows and swatters in every room. Soon as I hear neeeeeeeeeeeeee in my ear, light on and splat! Caught one in my book the other night - very satisfying.

Outside, citronella oil and candles seem to work.

If you're getting lots, make sure you've got no standing water anywhere in the garden - even a pot saucer is enough to breed the little horrors. If you've got a rainwater butt, a bit of paraffin in the top stops the larvae breathing and the adults breeding.
