If I dropped out of uni, what happens with council tax?

Uni is just there for you to meet other young people, have fun, go out, get drunk, etc.
The studying is really just a side-line. Getting a degree isn't that important - we'll all end up serving fries in McDonalds anyway.0 -

Why bother going then? (That is, if you genuinly are) You may as well just apply to work in Maccie D's without running up a huge debt.
I'm glad you think going to uni is so trivial, but please bear in mind that it is a tad insulting to those who have worked extremely hard to get in and have had to beg steal and borrow to able to afford it.
Unfortunatley going to uni these days is a huge privillige, so please remember this when posting such glib remarks.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

That would only work if you go to university in the same area as the LEA that funds your course - if you moved away when you left school then I don't think the council for the area that you're living in (because you could be living anywhere and commuting) would ever know.
Usually council tax exemption certificates have an expected course end date, so you'd probably get away with it until then.0 -
They check with the college though.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

You are joking of course? Thanks to Blair and his champagne socialist cronies, every man and his dog goes to university (of varying stature to gain degrees of dubious worth) these days.0 -

No I am not, I don't mean getting in, I mean financially. I've had to find £21k out of my own pocket to go. Now I don't know about anyone else, but i don't have that sort of money lying around down the back of my couch.
It's almost £10k more than what I earn in a year.
I'm not entitled to a grant and I have had no assistance.
Blair has made it financially more difficult to go what what with all these blummin fees and everything.
Any way, I promised, no more arguments this evening, I've quite enough excitement for one day.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
You make me sick. Some people would love to go to uni but don't get the chance. :mad:Ryan.Maloney wrote:Uni is just there for you to meet other young people, have fun, go out, get drunk, etc.
