my toms were doing the same thing kimme i googled it and apparently they were too much in the sun ... and when that happens they are feeling forced to grow ... it did make kinda sense to me as i had them right at the window so i have put them in a more shaded area for the last two days but so far no change...
hope yours turn out ok
well the aphids are just not wanting to die i keep squishing and squishing ... was thinking of making the tomato spray up but i need tomato leaves for that and with mine going white as well i wasnt too keen on cutting any away ... will keep squishing just now but might make up a garlic spray soon
i had forgotten to water my comfrey yesterday it's all wilted so i have gave it a good soak tonight and will have a look tomorrow and see if there is any improvement ...
still have loads of planting to do but everytime i try and get some planting done i have to dig first ... i dont mind digging at all ... i do however mind all the stones i am still finding ... if the stones in my garden were as handy as worms are ... i would have the most fertile garden in the world ... it's got that bad now everytime i think about planting i gather the stuff together and first thing i pick up is a bucket to put all the stones in ... those morrisons buckets sure come in handy lol0 -

Thank you for any help x
hi love2love .. alot of us here are newbies and were all growing different things ... its all a learning process with plenty of mishaps and fun along the way ...
what do you want to grow? this will possibly affect what you do to the ground before and which bit of your garden you grow in ... do you want to go organic? do you want veg? flowers ? the list really is endless ... do you have seeds? etc etc ...0 -
Hi Glitterati, how much were the trugs in Asda please?
Anyone know if they are in Tesco cheap also please and how they compare (price / size)?
HI, the trugs on the asda website say 3 x 40 litres for £10 (http://direct.asda.com/Rhino-Flexi-Tub-3-Pack-Green-40L/001230786,default,pd.html) , or 4 x 12 litres for £10 (http://direct.asda.com/Rhino-Flexi-Tub-4-Pack-Red-12L/001230772,default,pd.html) Although I ended up going there earlier and only found the 12 litre ones so I didn't bother :-( Not sure of Tesco prices sorry0 -

Hi elantan, thank you so much for this - I did google it but didn't find anything that I thought was relevant but it does make sense, I've had them in bright sunshine (when it is sunny!) although I did think that toms needed as much sun as poss??? Oh well, I'll keep them out of the sun for the next few days and maybe keep them inside for a while longer rather than taking them out during the day. I have to say that they do look very poorly this morning. I really hope that yours are a bit better. Keep me posted and I'll do the same. Thanks again.0 -
Went outside this morning to look at my vege plots and pots and something gggrrrr has eaten nearly all of my spinach which I thinned out, it has eaten almost all of the thinnings which I potted on in a pot !!!!!!!!!!!! Not a slug or snail as no trails but bite marks on remaining leaves ?? Very confused as to what it could be as have good measures in place to stop any slugs, whatever it was has not touched spinach in the raised flowerbeds can anyone help ??
Very Confused ???0 -

It might be birds, I know Pigeons eat things like lettuce. My lettuce was anihilated and had a similar experience, then one day I noticed a fat pigeon in the middle of it.
People say that hanging up old cds scare them off so I'm going to give that a try.0 -
Thanks Ema

Ooh and also I am going to join you all, a bit late but I have planted quite a bit this year already and am definitely a gardening newbie!
So far I have
Inside (in small pots that the roots can grow through, germinated on my heated floor)
Minnesota midget Melons (have just started sprouting!!)
French beans (sprouting and have put on windowsill)
Burgess vine buttercup squash (just started to sprout, some on windowsill)
Red peppers & chillis - (one of these is just starting to sprout. I put these in a bit late!)
I have also planted a few herbs on the windowsill, so far only thyme and basil are growing!
Outside nothing has started to sprout so far but hoping it will if the weather warms up a bit:
White beetroot (which I planted far too deep in a fit of digging through the soil to get rid of stones!)
Carrots (still need to shelter these from carrot fly, going to do this tomorrow)
Peas
Sweet peas
Rocket & mixed salad in a pot.0
