HI ALL
i do 34.5hours a week i pay full rent and CC tax
my monthly wage is about £850 and i get working tax and all that
im thinking about going down to 16 hours a week for a few reasons
1 i dont get to see my son as much as i would like to,
2 , im working for nothing doing 34.5 but if i was doing 16hours i would not be paying as much rent and CC tax and ill get a higher pay in woking tax and child tax therefore i would be better off, ive been on the benafits website and typed in i do 16 hours and the out come was £219 a week
and i would only have to pay £105 rent a month £7 CC a month
so all in all me doing 34.5 hours i have about £400-£500 for my family to live on
doing 16 hours i also worke out i will have £400-£500 to live on, anybody have any info or experiance in this???
many thanks

another one who wants to live of benefits and not work to keep themselves and young child.
OP, didnt take long did it, how old your son again?
Have a baby and one of you works the bare minimum and expect the state to keep you.
Tax credits can disapear at anytime and them where will you be on a 16 hours wage?0 -

Perhaps because you are claiming benefits and have asked about working less and claiming more benefits!
yes, ASKED FOR INFO, I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS LIKE YOU LOT ALWAYS SAYING PEOPLE ARE LIVING OFF ME, LETS JUST GET ONE THING STORTED MY SON IS NOT A BENAFIT BABY, ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT GET ME MAD
MY SON IS 10 MONTHS NOW AND IVE NEVER CLAIMED 1PENNY OF BENAFITS FOR HIM SINCE ME WAS BORN ITS ONLY NOW I HAVE CLAIMED, SO DONT SAY I WANNA LIVE ON BENAFITS0 -
Given your partner doesnt work, you already get a huge amount of family time.
Cutting your hours to the bare minimum so that tax payers fund you and the child you choose to bring into the world is plain wrong. Benefits are supposed to be there to support those unable to work not the workshy - the sooner we get rid of tax credits the better. Nobody should be able to choose to live at the tax payers expense.0 -

Your other posts beg to differ, you've applied for tax credits and CB and now plan to reduce your hours to the bare minimum in order to get more benefits - how is this not bring up a child on benefits / living on benefits.0 -

Nothing wrong with those hours, mornings free and every weekend off. The majority of men and women I know work far longer hours than 34 a week to support their families.
Your OH could always work part time as well as yourself if this was truly about spending more time with your child, however given all your questions are about gaining more money from the system I doubt family time is your true motivation.0
