Just in case it makes any difference, I orginally opened my account in branch, with my passport, driving license and utility bill....so it's not like they haven't had them!

the implications for the bank if they have failed to ensure appropriate docs etc under money laundering regs is a seriously heavy fine. Investigation by the Serious Fraud Office and obvious adverse publicity.
As a fraud investigator i would say its more likely that they are just carrying out a check on current customers to ensure no fraud etc. i really dont think anything to worry about guys but keep us posted
a reading of posts above suggests people have not been asked for proper id when opening accounts - fishface-69 states he & not bank insisted. are tsb just trying to cover their own back? is it too late once account opened? what if people don't comply - will they and can they close account? saying that not sure why anyone would refuse to provide proper id. if we incur unecessary expense of having to visit branch because bank failed to ask us for appropiate documents when account opened can we ask for expenses to be paid and compensation????0 -
Another Black !!! customer here :rotfl:
Could it be that now LTSB have agreed to put all current account holders onto credit reports that they need to do ID checks where they haven't previously
Not received any ID request here, but they have seen mine before. Also had no problem opening the 8% reg saver over the phone.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -

Is it not just because its a new account to be opened and opening a new account requires ID. My own bank told me I could not take out more than £250 at one transaction over the counter without ID - since they know me and I have been going in to the small village branch for 16 years paying in my wages and my husbands money too I dont think so.......... i never took it and I still got the money but at least they made an effort to tell me about itSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

I have a Lloyds TSB account (2 actually) and I haven't heard a thing.
I did get my annual call the other day about it being time for an "account review"... oh right, that meeting when you try and sell me more debt that I don't want!
I managed to put them off because I can't get any where near the bank during opening hours (I told them I was available Monday evening and all day Sunday)!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Once I put the phone down I wished I had made an appointment though because I think it will be fun watching them trying to sell something to me because I knowthey won't manage it! :T :T :T
They said they would call in a month to try and arrange something.... oops, that's the day I go on holiday! :j :beer:Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T0 -
What they told me, was that EVERY customer of Lloyds had been sent a letter to tell them to present proofs at a branch.
It wasn't because I was opening an account, apparently every single last one of us was sent this letter, and every single last one of us must go and do it.
But none of you know anything about this.....does it not strike you as odd? Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -

They wouldn't tell me when they posted them...
My suspisions were already raised, cos I have never heard of a blanket request for ID, and if that was required from the FSA, we'd know about it...and if it was that common, why didn't the man I spoke to know about it? Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
Havent had one, and I had my annual review & they dident manage to get me to agree to anything!
