of course a breaker might be a cheaper option if indeed the ecu has blown its output transisters due to the coil
what year /engine is this kay aye0 -
Yes thanks i have thought of that but as money is tight i could only afford a cheap old banger, and this car although 8 years old has low milage and is in good cond otherwise so too good to scrap really and its a case of better te devil you know!0

he means a breaker for a replacement ecu, not scrapping your car.0 -

I will talk to garage about it. Thanks
quite straight forward to replace the ecu on an 8 year old ka because you can be a bit vehement with the kick panel and dash
get the garage to source a s/h ecu and the key and barrel for the ignition and you could be back on the road in an hour, just use your other key you have now for the doorlocks
ford ecu on this year are plug and go0 -
Thanks for that, but i have just spoken to garage they say each ecu is coded to each car. Also say ecu is behind a amoured panel in passenger side dash and very tricky to get out.
Dont know if thats true or not but just what they tell me.0 -
It seems there is some water damage to the ecu.
Its been taken off car now and two of the small metal pin things have rusted away, sorry cant be more technical as dont know what Im taking about!
Anyway its being sent off to see if can be repaired. Anyone know what he chances are of being able to be repaired??
also what cost maybe of getting a s/h one with the ignition as above if nec.
thanks0 -
as i said
