QuizCall

Options
I know this is mostly our own fault, but I'm fuming mad with QuizCall! They let my partner run up a bill on my mobile of £2500, in one night! My partner got so carried away, she called QuizCall hundreds of times. What makes me so made, is they did not limit her to calling so many times on one day! Their service is open to abuse and a complete money making scam

  • I'd be more mad with my mobile company not noticing the activity on my mobile and cutting it off.

Although she must have known how much the calls were costing
Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

I don't actually think Quizcall are to blame - your partner is. Quizcall didn't 'let' your partner run up a huge debt - your partner chose to. S/he must have realised it would be horrendously expensive.

£2500 in one night. ha ha. Were they really drunk???

It sounds like those people who moan that the credit card people "let" them get into huge debts on their 10+ credit cards!

I cant believe you couldnt see through the programmes format though- i have seen similar ones and they are transparent to most people.Convincing you that no one else knows the correct answer and if only you could get through youll win a fortune.

Drunk or not, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to work out they are making money out of thick people. She's responsible for her own actions and should have a half a brain and know better.

I do think it is extortionate - BUT surely there has to be an element of personal responsibility here?

So your partner used your phone to run up a debt but it's the fault of the people she rang? Am I missing something here or are you and her both not facing up the fact that she made a stupid mistake and so did you in letting her use your phone?

Actually browsed to the channel last night. Heard a contestant speaking and the host asked for a date of birth about 5 or six times. Eventually they came up with one that was over 18, but didn't sound right to me. But they still accepted the call and the person's answer.

Quizcall aren't the most of responsible people.

However, if your partner chose to ring up, then they are responsible for their actions. Quizcall are trying to make money (and are succeeding it seems).

They have no legal obligation to limit the number of calls a person is allowed to make. Arguable whether or not they have a moral obligation

I was watching one of these quiz programmes the other night, they fairly frequently advised that entries be limited to '300 a month', I don't think they enforced this limit though.

As I said in my original post, We are mostly to blame. What made me mad, ws that Quizcall never imposed a limit, therefor this can cause a vunerable person to run up a huge debt, on false hopes that they'll win
