I miss out on loads of phone and technology jobs because of my age. :( Some of those I do get are a real hoot: they ascertain my needs by looking at me - "Oh, so you're looking for an easy to use phone, then?" - the next step must be "So, you'll be needing one with big buttons, then?":rotfl:

i have the opposite problem- they look at me and try and push touch screen iphone things and i'm like 'no, i want buttons, don't like touchscreen'!! :rotfl:

i got the email saying ones in my area and there were not any in the email in my area! also not seen any available recently although had a few messages about new jobs which are gone by the time i log on :(

tern jobs were snapped up pretty quick today. got the email and alert and figured as they normally take a day or so to allocate i would wait til i finished work and now they are all gone

I am getting bank branches appearing one by one on my account this evening. Think they must be doing it by distance. So worth keep checking to beat other shoppers to them.

New poster here, been lurking around the site for a few years and got some great hints from this thread for my MS.

I have one problem that I am hoping others can help me with (and I am sure this has not been discussed before and nor is it in the first few posts)

I had to do an electrical retailer tonight and was to enquire about one product with a given price/spec from the briefing notes. The shop assistant approached me fine and asked if they could help and I said I was looking to replace my fridge freezer and waiting for them to ask me questions.... and waited... and waited and then he came up with "what make is your existing one" which I answered that I was not sure and that I was not brand driven anyhow,.. and then he asked should he leave me to have a look. I answered yes and carried on browsing round and then was approached by another assistant who did sort of ask the right questions.

What I am wondering is what should I have done in the situation of the first assistant not really being interested, let them leave me or give them more of the scenario to see if that starts them helping me (and write this up in the report?)

hate it when that happens :( i normally ask them to help me pick one and hope that will prompt them to ask more questions. i just make sure i have read brief thoroughly so i can recall what i am supposed to prompt them on. if i am not supposed to prompt then generally i dont.

did a camera enquiry the other day and it said if asked tell them the budget is £400. he didnt ask and just started showing me really cheap ones. in the end i did have to point to an expensive one.

is so awkward, esp when you have to see if they try and close the sale as often they wont. they will give you the thing i will say something like 'yes i like this' or 'this is suitable' and then stand there holding it grinning like a moron waiting for them to ask if a want to buy it. prob only a few seconds but feels like a lifetime! :rotfl::o

I did the same scenario yesterday. The guy who served me was good but it is difficult to chat about fridges. I did have to lead it a bit initially, I asked for a recommendation and when that didn't work, said I wanted a reliable brand. In general they say not to lead the conversation, but there is only so much you can leave them to it without it being impossible to assess their knowledge.

Just been offered a couple of jobs with Blueapple. My first from them. Fees look ok but dont have access to briefing or questionnaire. Anyone worked for them? Just checking that I'm not going to get sucker punched with a dodgy scenario and 200 question report. And how do you submit your pay claim?

They are a lovely company to work for. Is it a nationwide store which sells awfully cold food. No real scenario just check a list of things, check some stock items etc.

I get paid by BACS by them.

I was speaking to someone who use to be a manager and they can spot us a mile away as we ask for a receipt no one else does
if you notice when u pay by card you still have to aske as they dont give one automatoically and I was told me if the report is not in there favour they check cctv and find the shopper and identify them they say the shopper did not check condiments or something that way we get booted from the jobs as we been identified as the MSer
basically they try and avoid accepting a none satifactory report

Sam do you know then are they penalised for bad reports. Other staff in other stores know they are MS'ed. They dont' get their knickers in a twist about it though

I got a call asking if I could do some bank jobs, said yes but asked for more money as not worth it in fees. Offered me the extra, sent me the brief - no kids!!! Aggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh so I'll have to cancel them! Why don't they ask these things???

They rang while I was cooking so it was a snap decision to do the job - got excited at the prospect of the extra money and now I can't do it!
