  • PS keep an eye on the cost of sandwich since you also have to buy eggs and stay under £*..

I've gone over the reimbursment amount and not had a prob - obviously they will only reimburse that amount though.

The thing to watch is that the own-brand item doesn't cost more than £2.

If you don't want the problem of making a product defective then just open the sandwich packet a little bit and then walk back in saying that it was already open.

I have been allocated a couple of these and was wondering the best way to go about them. I intend to go in with an A4 pad and just make a note of all the stock. I will then ask a MOS which is their house brand and how many variants that they sell the drinks in. Is this how other people have done it, or does it sound long-winded to you? Also, do you only have to note stock in the actual bar (rather than in the cellar etc). Dont know why I'm fretting about these.......
  • Can you please BOTH remove the client name from your posts. Thank you.

I've done 6 of these so far. I've been typing up the list of all the brands from the previous survey which is attached on the briefing. Then printing these out and checking them off when in the pub / restaurant / hotel / cross-dressing nightclub ;).

The old surveys haven't listed out all the wines, but when they've had a wine list, I've written down a copy of this as it's easier than spying them over the bar. They want as much detail as possible, so list all the different mixers / champagnes etc.

In general, they are looking for what the bar has on display, they won't let you go into the cellars anyhow but as I said for the wines it's straightforward to list them all. Then when I've done that I ask the bar staff anything that isn't clear, e.g. the name of some bottles on the back row which I couldn't see or the sizes of the soft drinks in the fridge.

Be warned that if you are taking up any of the staff's time then they might refuse you permission, so try and do as much as you can without asking them. I only had a couple that were awkward but they both said they didn't have any time to spare so definitely wouldn't have stood there and listed them all for me. But there were others were they were more than happy to help.

Good luck, I have found these quite hard work, but getting some of the paperwork done in advance by typing up the information that I had made it a bit easier for me I think.

Well, I have done the sandwich one and also the broken crisps one (quite easy to crush them up in the car and then go back). But last week I decided I was bored of those and so bought some choc biscuits - blimey they're hard to break!!! LOL!!! I was bashing them on the steering wheel and gearstick but they were solid!!!

So my advice - sandwich or crisps but avoid the choc digestives!!!!!:rotfl:

:rotfl:lol I bought a pack of rich tea/digestives and crushed the top ones. This meant I was also able to get some hot cross buns (as well as the eggs) within the reimbursement ;). Go for the cheapest option and give yourself an extra purchase.

    Evening all..

I picked up a released job off RE yesterday purely as I was in the location for my full time job this morning.. Part of the assignment was to collect a specific leaflet from the outlet with a code on it or you would not be paid.

It specifically says this 2/3 times in the notes. On entering said premises, NO leaflets were on display at all... Now this could be why it had been released... As much as I love talking to people about fictious accounts I want to open, I wasn't prepared to do it for nothing so also released the job, emailing the Co to let them know why.. I have just noticed a few more pop back on the site. I may be wrong it may not be for the same reason as mine, but.....:(

Luckily I was in the area anyway, I wouldn't have been a happy bunny doing a 10 mile round trip otherwise..!

  • Has anyone done one of these where you've been refused permission to do it?

I've done two today, first one was relatively helpful but didn't get the brands of the wine because they only did house red and house white and had none in the bar area. Second one I was point blank refused permission to do it by the licensee :( just hoping I still get paid or if a revisit is involved they can actually ok it with the venue before I go...

I have another four of these which I was going to do tonight because they're mostly late-night venues but I think I'll leave it until tomorrow in the hope that they'll be less busy and a bit more friendly...

I'm finding it difficult to answer questions I've been asked as to what the client who has commissioned the research does... Hate being given half a brief... :(

Definitely not the best day I've had!!!

I found it difficult justifying it too, although was only really asked in one pub. Agree that the brief doesn't give enough information, after the first one I said that I was working for a market research company and they seemed quite happy with this.

If you give ESA a call about the one that refused, I expect they will be fine with it. I've had to query a couple of things with them and they've been helpful and nice.
