I mentioned to a friend that i missed having a partner when i am ill as i had no one to give me a hug/comfort me.He says this is a myth and does not happen in relationships! please prove him wrong and restore my faith.

My partner's an absolute diamond when it comes to me being ill (and I am horrible when I am ill!) I had flu (thankfully not of the piggy variety) tail end of last year, and he was constantly making sure I was ok, etc. Bless him, it's a shame I'm not very good at sympathy when he's poorly!!0

It most certainly does! I was seriously ill and DH had to do everything, and I mean everything for me, and still comforted me. Now when one of us has a rlatively minor ailment we appreciate how much that sympathetic hug means. We make time to...put a flower on the lunch tray, wash the sick persons face and hands with a warm facecloth and generally spoil the sick one.0

I suppose it depends on what ure parter is like, mine hates sick and hates the noise of anyone being sick. He also tends to think that all pain must be visible to the naked eye so Ive twice had to drive myself to A&E because he wouldnt believe that there was something wrong with me and only when I came home the first time with a patch over my eye and a bag of pills did he believe that there was anything wrong. Second time he was also proved wrong , Although I have to say when I was bed ridden with the mumps and my face was swollen up like I had swallowed a basket ball he was very good to me and gave me lots of kisses and cuddles. He even had to go and get a jag aswell because its not good for grown up men to get the mumps as it can affect their fertility .It says alot that he gave me cuddles and kisses when I had the mumps because I was so ill I hadnt washed in days , and my face was so swollen I couldnt even open my mouth to properly brush my teethThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Very god, lots of hugs and fuss and fetching whatever I might want and tucking me up in the duvet.
When I left home, to live with my ex, a well meaning friend said you'll miss your mum when you are poorly. I have to say when I have been ill, it's been my boyfriend that I have wanted, not my mum, and both my ex and my current and forever boyfriend have been brilliant.0 -

Of course you comfort your partner if they are ill.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Well I am sitting here with a splitting headache that I have had for 11 days now, tonsilitis and recovering from a stomach bug and my boyfriend is still in bed. If another childs shouts, my head may explode.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

My husband has done so much for me while I've been ill that I simply can't state it all, but it includes months of holding my hair back while I was sick, emptying the camping toilet because I couldn't walk to the bathroom, coming to hospital before work, during his lunch break and straight after work to keep me company and sitting holding my hand during asthma attacks.
Likewise, I can spot his asthma coming on before he does, I send him to bed when he starts with a cold because if he tries to work through it he gets quite ill (since he had chicken pox complications a while back) and, when he becomes insular, I arrange nights out for him and his friends.
Whatever it takes. We meant our marriage vows when we said them.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
