Are you allowed to marry your cousins?

Yes. Just don't do it too many generations or trouble looms.

Some women don't have the confidence to interact in a mixed gender environment (lets not discuss the sociological/psychological reasons here) so a women only mag/site that enables them to go out and do something that makes them feel better about themselves can only be a good thing.

Also, women analyse and consider things in a different way/context, generally speaking, and it can be refreshing to discuss something without talking at cross purposes.

Totally agree :T Also surely if someone starts (either male/female) running through a mens fitness mag/womans running mag or gender only running group and then moves onto mixed groups and 'proper' races thats only a good thing. You need to look at the indvidual person rather than the 'group' or collective. Some woman may be at gender only running club because they don't want to run with men or it could be they enjoy going yet on a Wednesday they also run in a mixed group who are training for a marathon.

Its one thing 'genderising' (sp?) someone but I feel 'stereotyping' is just as bad :o

Actually most elite women race in mens trainers - they are better designed - womens gear is generally utter crap sadly (it shouldnt be but they spend too much money on making it look good and not enough on making it work!)

And why shouldnt it lead to such a discussion - women had to fight bloody hard to be allowed to run marathons - I do not want to be forced back into that corner where I am weak pathetic women who can only run short distances because my body is 'different' (that it might be but only as different as one woman to another)

The paucity of women's equipment doesn't mean that men's equipment is the right choice - it means they are making the best of what is available.

As for your second paragraph I think if you actually read what I said you will see that I wasn't against cross gender discussions, I simply pointed out that it was refreshing to discuss some things with someone who has a similar perspective, even if their views are different. No limitation of physical capacity was stated or implied. Women's skeletons are different FACT, women are hormonally different FACT, and surely such differences are understood best by women and some discussion (even pink fluffy ones) may bring about discoveries/research that might otherwise have been overlooked.
