MMW, I have got so much to do but felt compelled to read your diary because the title sounded just like something I would say....oh another another thing...
Oh no... My debt busting plans have hit a snag!!!!

Just finished watching the film 2012, apparently I will pay off my debts June 2012.... Then get wiped out by a mahoosive tidal wave...

    ... Bu@@er!!!!!

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's just typical and probably would happen to me :D

I don't think I've ever seen such motivation and results in such a short period of time, well done and congratulations. I will be subscribing to your thread :)

    Hi mendmyways,

Wow you do sound just like me! You sound like you're doing so well. I'm finding it really helpful to read other peoples' diaries for inspiration!!:T So thank you.

My debt is quite a lot more than yours, but I am hopeful I can clear it before the end of Nov 2012. I too want to be OD free. I want to get paid and have money in my account rather the be straight back in the red.

    Good Luck!

Hi, just seen your diary and it's similar to my situation too. I've subscribed to your diary too. I was lucky and got my PPP back at the end of last month - but it got swallowed up by bills and my overdraft! It made me realise how really bad my debts and spending was. Still, hopefully this will mean I will save at least £18 a month in overdraft interest fees!

Hi all you reformed shopaholics, I felt the urge to seek some solace in your words of wisdom, but I was wondering if anybody else has been in my position, as right now, I feel totally hopeless and despairing of my stupid mistakes. I am 51 years of age and a professional woman, with two grown up sons (late 20s) who are still living with me as they are saving frantically to move out some time soon - hence minimal contribution, but please don't castigate me for this, it's my choice as their money is going towards buying somewhere and that way they will hopefully get a good start. Following divorce, some 17 years ago, and putting both sons through uni, continuing to enjoy a 'lifestyle', making lots of relationship mistakes etc etc I now find that this is pay back time and I have a huge mortgage (£200,000)

Hi Steerpiker! Thanks for reading my diary, be great to have you along for the journey!

It was fantastic finally getting the PPI back, in some ways I still cant believe I actually got them to pay out (It did actually take the handwritten letter in the end... money in account by following day)
Did you have a long struggle to get your PPI back?

.. not to mention a credit card of 12,000. As I sit here feeling totally nauseated by my loft full of 'fashion experiments' that I intend to boot sale (made some money by ebaying some) I wonder what the hell I was thinking when I saw shopping for clothes as some kind of esteem panacea. I will get a decent-ish pension, and I have massively changed my habits and seen the error of my ways, but woefully way to late. If I had my chance again ... needless to say, hindsight is a wonderful thing ... please help!

Thank you mendedmyways - you'd be surprised how many people see the answer to be 'forcing' my boys to contribute - I am ashamed to say that even where one of them cleared my cc a few years ago, what did I do? allowed it to creep back up, then some ... I guess my issue with debt/spending is psychological, and I hopefully have dealt with the feeling of desperation. I think I have come to terms with the whys and wherefores (again, not a lot of help to me now!) but my spending was certainly a means to try to 'wipe out' my past.
I have been a member for a while, but unfortunatley, I fell off the wagon a fair few times after the LBM. Yes, it most certainly did get harder af the LBM, as I guess the stronger urge is to revert, ignore, and seek out that feeling of how it felt BLBM - Before Light Bulb Moment - when the world was a never-never land and the future might never come ... but hey, thank goodness I'm back, and already feeling a whole lot better thanks to reading about how others have successfully managed to turn things around.

Ninnins, welcome to my world and I don't even have kids! However I have got my debts down to £160,000 (they were £190k at their worst) and I count my mortgage as a debt because with only eight years left at work I need to be debt free by 60, because I am not going to be a poor retired person.By snowballing I know I can do it (and live a life at the same time). Lucky you to have two boys and to be able to help them.
