    Hello Mendmyways,

Thanks, yes I've got off to a good start. Been fortunate to get some over time in recently so earned quite a bit extra. Was so disappointed at the end of January when I'd earned lots extra atill to be overdrawn! I just thought what's the point? I'm not getting anywhere? thanks to finding this forum, I found hope that I can sort it out at last!!

    Wishing you lots of luck,

    MM.;)

  • Hi bad weather!
The cash only rule has been great for me!! Turns out I don't really like spending cash much, my issue appears to have been with the plastic!
It's amazing to me to find that I really think hard about something If I have to hand over my cold hard cash!!!! (my bank possibly think I have actually passed away this month due to my lack of activity lol)

I also have a little rule that if I get a £2 coin in my change it HAS to go it my money tin (they are just sooooo pretty!) I've got £20 saved up that way already!

Good luck with trying cash only month

    Debt-free and Proud!
    OMG OMG OMG OMG
Back in January when I signed up for this website, I did all the usual things...

    Going through my finances
    cutting down my budget
facing the horror of my SOA
    planning my snowball
then getting down to it and paying them off!

... but one of the other things I did was have a nose at the PPI reclaiming forum, then remembered I had a loan with CAP one that ended last year. I simply printed off the standard letter from this website, giving my reasons (which were mainly that I was pushed into taking PPI and that they had already been told off by the FSA for miss selling)
I then promptly forgot all about it...

... until this morning when I got a letter, which I fully expected to be my 'fobbing you off' letter... BUT although they state that the completely disagree with my claim, they will refund me £3018 (which includes the interst I asked for):eek::eek::eek: :T:T:T:T:T

I am completely gobsmacked!!!! If I had not joined this community I would have never have known about the FSA, PPI or miss-selling

So im going to fill in the acceptance form and get it into the post ASAP!!!

Thats fabulous!!!! well done, and be sure to use your new MSE ways to put it towards debt, not extra spending!

  • Fantastic news, well done you! I've never had any loans and never taken PPI on any CCs, so nothing there for me - wish there was though! I did try a bank charge reclaim, rather late in the day, and got rejected, and then got put off by the "ruling" from persuing, but I really should re-visit the pages here just to make sure there's no way I can go back and ask again....maybe that's my next MSE "job"....

V pleased for you - yes get the tyres as sooooo boring to have to pay for with real money, but should still be plenty left to pay something off with!

  • Don't start about the iPhone!! I'd heart one too but feel I shouldn't right now.

However Mr R is about to get a Blackberry and we're going to see what Virgin will chuck in for me. Won't be an iPhone but got to be better than my 4 year old Cath Kidston Nokia.

Anyway, good to hear of your progress, fellow reformee
